Hello Everyone and thank you for joining us weekly during our live Wed(NSI)days! This week we are excited to welcome returning guest speaker Jessica Barhaug, Senior Completions Engineer - Chiefs Team with Ovintiv, who will be sharing a presentation titled: Tying Stage Architecture to Wolfcamp Performance While post-frac erosion and Fracture Driven Interactions (FDI) can be good indicators of a successful frac, getting long-term performance data has mainly been limited to full wellbores of a single design and waiting months for the results. The Permian Asset team was debating the impact of stage architecture on production. Did different designs come on strong, but then fall off over time? Could a doubling of flow area from the standard design lead to a doubling of performance? An experiment was designed to answer these questions with a toolbox of emerging production diagnostics. By combining these latest techniques with some geologic characterization from in-bit accelerometer data, performance of a particular design can be examined on a single wellbore, saving time and money. Three different stage architecture designs were alternated along a Wolfcamp wellbore. These designs were selected to look at the impact of cluster and stage spacing and perforation orientation. A novel methodology for oil tracers (AB testing) was deployed in the test well. Oil tracers that had previously underwent calibration testing for an affinity for each other and the reservoir were pumped during frac. A unique oil tracer was pumped per design. Additionally, an oil tracer was pumped in stages along a greenfield portion of the lateral and another in brownfield stages next to a parent well. A carbon fiber rod was run to get an initial look at production allocation by cluster, stage, and design type, allowing a comparison to oil tracers at that snapshot in time. TIL:Drill-to-Fill I'm going to start trying to put more posts on linkedin when I learn something new about #oilandgas. What has made the last 20+ years of my career so rewarding is all of the time customers and colleagues have spent with me teaching me about the fascinating challenges in this business. Today I learned what "drill to fill" means using a real world example with a customer. I have heard the term many times and always understood it to mean drilling inventory wells to hit production targets given declining production. What came to life for me this week, was what that really looks like in practice. The customer I was working with is thinking about how they can use Quorum Software's Enersight application in conjunction with Execute opps scheduler to optimize their drilling program. They want to use Enersight to produce an optimal drilling plan given constraints in the field (disposal, water, midstream capacity etc) and then use Execute to schedule out what rigs will be drilling in what order. So much more complex and interesting than I understood it to be yesterday when I woke up. #reserves #upstream Quorum Software

Powering rig operations with 100% natural gas engines has become a reality for several operators working in US land today, providing them an opportunity to reduce overall fuel consumption and, by extension, reduce emissions from the rig. In this interview with DC from the 2024 IADC Advanced Rig Technology Conference in Austin, Texas, on 28 August, Richard Barber, Key Account Leader at INNIO Waukesha Engines, talked about the value that natural gas engines – including the company’s MobileFlex engine – can provide for drilling operations. In particular, he discussed how natural gas engines can provide “diesel-like” performance while still emitting less greenhouse gasses than diesel engines. https://lnkd.in/e-FSxwfw
