"Can you explain these gaps in your resume?" Yes, I can. - I have been almost blind for a few months, and undergoing several surgeries - I was laid off because the company was acquired by a bigger one, and they thought it was a 'power move' to dismantle the whole team, regardless of their performance - I was spending the last months with a relative before they passed away - I was recovering from a horrible job and reflecting what I want to do next, to not repeat the same experience - I moved to another country and needed some buffer time to put things in order - I just took a little break because I have been working almost non-stop since I was 20 Now, can you explain why your position has been open for 3 months already, why your message to reach out to me was completely automated, and your score in Glassdoor is 3.2?

For recent grads looking for jobs, it can be a struggle; it is unfortunate that this practice is going on: According to the same ResumeBuilder survey, "companies posted fake job listings to make it appear the company is open to external talent (67%), to act like the company is growing (66%), to make employees believe their workload would be alleviated by new workers (63%), to have employees feel replaceable (62%)."
If you're applying for jobs endlessly but with little success, the good news is, it might not be your fault at all. Ghost job postings are becoming more and more common—here's how to spot them and what to do about it. https://trib.al/LS4raac

I teach people how to advance their career by embracing the entrepreneurial mindset at work—No Limits, Just Growth.
Are you tired of applying for jobs with no response? 15 years ago, I was in the same boat. I was ready for a change and applied for over 57 jobs in one week—without a single response. Frustrated, I turned to my mentor, who suggested targeting the recruiter, hiring manager, or anyone in the company I knew and sending them a personal note. So that’s exactly what I did. It wasn’t easy because not every company lists the recruiter, but I focused on it. I crafted my note and sent it out. And guess what? I received 3 responses out of the 11 applications I applied to this way. If you're looking for a job, the game has changed. Applying for 100 jobs and hoping for a response is over. You need to be specific, targeted, and treat each application as a unique opportunity, not just another company on a list. If this is an area you need help with, I've put together a quick interview guide to what to do before, during and even after the interview. Grab it here. https://bit.ly/4dXc4eQ Good luck!!

I Help Job Seekers Become No-Brainer Hires at Top Companies with Higher Salaries ᯾ Professional Branding to Elevate Your Career ᯾ Career Coach & Resume Writer ᯾ Former Fortune 500 Recruiter
If you don't give future employers context about the level of your work, it’s hard for them to picture you on their team. Most people just list tasks or highlight top accomplishments, but they forget context. What's the scope of your work? What’s the impact? What's the level and reach of what you do? There’s a big difference between being a one-person marketing team vs. working in a 30-member department. There’s a big difference between working at a startup vs. a Fortune 500. Without context, recruiters struggle to envision you in the role they need filled. If you need help adding this to your resume, DM me—I’d be happy to assist!

Someone reminded me this week how nerve-racking it is to apply for jobs and make sure everything is perfect. I wanted to share a selected list of the cringiest things I've screwed up in the last decade when applying or interviewing: - 🙊 Asked for "3 attributes to describe myself" and drew a blank after starting with "Smart" - 🤦 Got the company name wrong in the cover letter (it might've been a competitor I was also applying to) - 🙃 Talked about how excited I was to work with someone - and then learning they were fired and this role was replacing them - 💸 Sent the wrong resume (like, 2-3 years old) - ⌨️ Autofilled my current job's email address in the application form and didn't spot it before submitting That doesn't count the typos and smaller errors along the way. Shoutout to every hiring manager who had to suffer through the above. I got better - and I got it right more often than wrong. Getting a second set of eyes is gamechanger. 👀 If we're connected and you'd like help with your resume or job search, lemme know - I'm happy to share what I've learned from "experience."

Just had a refreshing experience in my job search. Sent a thank-you note minutes after my interview with the hiring manager. Unlike past experiences, the manager actually acknowledged my email. This small gesture made me feel seen and valued In today's job market, where ghosting and rejections are common, it's easy to feel helpless. To hiring managers: A quick "Thanks for the thoughtful note" can mean the world to a candidate. Behind every application is a person seeking connection and opportunity. Stories from a current job hunter.

I have a shocking secret. And you won't believe me, but I'm going to share anyway. Recruiters WANT you to get the job. Nothing makes them happier than you getting an offer and accepting it. You see, we get to close the job down and move onto the next one. And we get credit for the hire (we get measured, too!). So, a good recruiter will advocate for you behind the scenes. They'll talk you up, help remove objections by the hiring teams, and try to get those extra few dollars in your offer. Because when you succeed, we succeed. It's easy to beat up on the recruiter, because they're the front face of the business. And a crappy recruiter doesn't help when they ghost you. But if you treat them with respect and courtesy, they'll do the same. Remember, we all want the same thing at the end of the day. (of course, you still have to be a solid fit, and present yourself well. Check my bio for how I can help!)

Remember to thank your recruiter too. Because behind closed doors, we were going to battle for you. ⭐ Without the recruiter, your resume is just a piece of paper to a hiring manager. We are your voice. 🗣 ⭐ Maybe you may not hit all the requirements, but we sure will try to sell you into the hiring manager as to why you would be a great fit. 💪 ⭐ A recruiter wants you to land that job just as much as you want that job. So, the next time you pass along a 'thank you' note, remember to send one to your recruiter too. 🗒 That note can go a long way. Perhaps enough to always keep you in mind for future opportunities. 💼
