Intro animation for Liondell Ltd ⚡️ In my current role managing and creating social media marketing content for Liondell Ltd, I'm enjoying stretching my abilities and trying new things. Video editing is something I'm still new to, and I try to apply my eye for detail and a professional finish in whatever I do- beginner or not. At the London College of Fashion, as someone who came from an academic background, I faced a steep learning curve at the beginning of my course. Developing new skills at sewing, design, pattern-cutting as well as digital programmes like Illustrator and Photoshop was overwhelming, especially when balancing all these things at once. Learning new skills from scratch, becoming adept and even great at them has been a really rewarding experience in my life. This attitude of getting stuck in and believing in my ability to succeed at anything new I put my mind to has contributed to my positive mindset today. I'm proud to be a multi-hyphenate with skills across multiple areas. The best thing you can be is adaptable. #animation #design #graphic #growthmindset #positivity

In 2015, just a few credits shy of graduating from Spelman College, I encountered LinkedIn in Alexandria Lockett's Rhetorics of Advertising class. Shamefully, as a Comparative Women's Studies Major pursuing an entertainment career, I failed to see the value in an employment-networking platform. How do creative hires navigate the job market? I took an unconventional route. Now, after two years of entrepreneurship and countless "let's connect on LinkedIn" requests, I'm finally ready to share my journey! I’m Maura Chanz (@maurachanz everywhere), a creative producer, writer, director, and the Executive Producer and HBIC of Brilliantine Productions. Starting my career at 13 as a commercial actress, I quickly found my passion at the crossroads of storytelling and advertising. 👩🏾💻 Growing up on the internet, I launched my first blog, Lips Unsealed, at 14, diving into the world of digital advertising. Managing my platform felt like my own Jacobs by Marc Jacobs for Marc By Marc Jacobs era. I honed invaluable skills, including graphic design, which has been my saving grace and side hustle through many seasons. Outgrowing Lips Unsealed, I teamed up with Kofi Siriboe (yes, ladies, HIM) to launch TheBlakSheepTV on YouTube. We amassed over 10M views and thousands of subscribers, featuring guests like Skye Townsend, Jhene Aiko, and Nipsey Hussle...The Marathon Continues. Meanwhile, I continued to refine my skills behind the scenes through internships at BET, True Story Agency, and Konlive Distribution, closing out my college career as an on-campus segment producer for BET's digital series What's At Stake. Degree in hand, I founded my first creative agency, Glitter & Hustle, and returned to the spotlight as an on-air personality for Bossip on WeTV. Opportunity called and I was on the first thing smoking back to LA to learn under one of Black Hollywood's Fairy God Mothers, Mara Akil, serving as her apprentice and creative assistant at Akil Productions. This seven-year Hollywood journey catapulted me through studio lots, tentpole events, writers' rooms, and award shows, culminating in my role as Director of Creative & Content Production for Yara & Keri Shahidi's 7th Sun Productions. In this role and as a freelance creative producer, I've collaborated with Dior, Samsung, IGTV, Live Nation, and more before founding Brilliantine Productions. Back in the entrepreneurship realm, Brilliantine Productions aims to illuminate our stories through creative and physical production. Since our 2022 launch, we've partnered with Skillshare, Meta , Amazon Music, Walmart & Goldman Sachs through collaborations with HOORAE and ColorCreative. Reflecting on my journey, I once felt like my curiosities pulled me in every direction. Now, I see it as a tailored path, accumulating transferable skills along the way.
