‼️🇸🇩ALL OUT FOR SUDAN‼️ 🇸🇩 PROTEST THE UAE’s INVOLVEMENT IN SUDANS GENOCIDE DURING HAMDAN BIN MOHAMMED AL-MAKTOUM’S SPEECH. RSVP for our art build THIS FRIDAY SEPT. 27th: https://lnkd.in/enpt7EeT 🔊🔊CALLING ALL COMRADES, ORGANIZATIONS, if you would like to collaborate, endorse, or sponsor this protest, please reach out to us via DM! On September 28th, join Awlad Al Neel and collaborators to demand accountability from the UAE for their exploitative involvement in Sudan’s war. We call for an immediate end to all foreign meddling in Sudan. The Sudanese people alone must shape their future, free from external manipulation. While the United States remains the primary global imperialist threat, the UAE, like other regional powers, plays a significant role in tearing apart the Global South, plundering resources for profit. For the comrades who are aligned with us in this call - we invite you to discuss with us how we can unite our struggles against imperialism in all its forms, from Washington to Abu Dhabi. Let’s build a stronger, more coordinated resistance against all foreign intervention and exploitation. The sovereignty of Sudan is non-negotiable. HANDS OFF SUDAN!

Introducing this project on an Arrernte sacred site (Women’s Site) in the heart of Central Australia (Alice Springs) is a direct insult to the Mparntwe Traditional Custodians. While we acknowledge the perspectives of those who view tourism and commercial interests as beneficial, prioritising these over a site of profound spiritual significance, which has been sacred to the Arrernte people for thousands of years, is deeply troubling. Once again, we are witnessing the disregard of a culturally significant site in favour of external gains, undermining the preservation of an ancestral heritage that has shaped this land for millennia. This issue transcends economic interests; it is about safeguarding the heritage of the world’s oldest living culture for future generations. Is this a new movement by Indigenous interests that places commercial opportunities and gains above our cultural rights as the First Peoples of this nation? Traditional Custodian.

The Social Impact of Art Not just any art, but art conceived through keen observation of society and of facts buried deep or even just a scratch below the surface, yet which are too heavy to simply uncover. This is the kind of art compelling enough to stir the curiosity and interest of the audience with whom it resonates. Represented with an artist's consciousness of elements of effective communication in Art, such art is powerful for the emotional relatability of its humanistic source. It would easily draw the attention of all, including (policy) makers of society and could inspire action towards needed change. The most important potential of art is perhaps its sheer existence - when on display (and not censored into museum or gallery archives, by the politics of social propaganda or artists' self-restraint). Where people cannot directly or collectively express certain issues, art becomes the one in all its magnificence, to bravely argue status quo by staring its audience right back in the face - not questioning, but demanding change. Demanding humanity. Demanding not just deeper thought, but urgent action. Artists need more collaborative work for this type of visibility and impact. - Temi Odutokun

ARTIST OF LANGUAGES: Writer of fiction, poetry, libretti; Dramatist, Playwright; Creator of Theatre, Collaborator with Musicians (Classical and Irish), Dancers, Visual Artists, Singers and Film Makers.
ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND ACE's understanding of the creative process diminishes year on year. If it was ever there. The bureaucracy, the form-filling, the move to becoming a Corporation, disguise and distort the value, process and nature of artistic creation. I heard the Chief Executive (?) on R4 rattling off a statement which opened the chasm between funding body and artist ever wider. So we now have yet another set of guidelines. To help us deal with...what? Patronising, presumptive, vacuous and intrusive, this belongs to the corporate mentality, or the judiciary, where a structure of behaviours is pre-determined and adds one more hurdle to gaining support. Oh yes, heavily disguised warnings as to what will rock the boat. When did art not rock the boat? The more pertinent question might be, how to get funding for the transgressive, the deeper truths hidden for the most part by reductive impoverished jargon. so we need help, do we, to deal with potentially difficult responses to what we do. Is the CEO of ACE so woefully ignorant of what artists have been dealing with since the most primitive forms of expression. One sends one's work out into the world. There is no way of knowing, or even suspecting, how it will be received, how responded to. we risk, we dare. We cannot shore up safety, nor do we wish to. The work will haver it's own unique life within each individual, each country, each decade, each utterance. whatever happened to mystery, 'the Untought Known' as Christopher Bollas puts it. Don't listen to prescribed formulas. Listen to the creators, the work itself, its wonderful audiences. What matters? What of mystery, a slow revealing. what of an outcome that can't be pre-deetermined. What of a multiple response. An open landscape. Courage to speak from some deeper place which refuses definition, and thus preserves the gift of endless possibility.
