Flying Vision Accelerator has lift off! After an extensive preparation phase, we are proud to announce our Kick Off. The Flying Vision Accelerator - Luchtvaart in Transitie [FVA] project team met at the TU Delft | Aerospace Engineering yesterday, and discussed the project with Luchtvaart in Transitie and the Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat. We were declared "ready for take-off"! ✈️ Flying Vision Accelerator is a project within the Luchtvaart in Transitie Nationaal Groeifonds focusing on knowledge gathering, next to the technology- and eco-system development projects. ✈️ Flying Vision Accelerator aims to contribute to climate neutral aviation in 2050 by development of roadmaps and an overarching vision. This will come about by the activities of deep-dives and think-tanks, both employing an open working-method on input as well as output side. ✈️ The team is inspired to get to work, and we are thankful for the efforts of all involved to make this happen, specific shout-out to NLR - Netherlands Aerospace Centre, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Airbus and Airbus Netherlands B.V. and Royal Schiphol Group Delft University of Technology as founding partners. Participating in the Airbus Fly Your Ideas 2024 competition was an exhilarating experience that broadened my perspective on innovation and knowledge of aviation industry transformation and trends. Our team's involvement in the competition not only allowed us to apply theoretical knowledge gained through academic study but also encouraged creative thinking and problem-solving in a dynamic, and real-world setting. Last week, Victoria Coleman had the privilege of speaking at AIAA SciTech, sharing insights and learning alongside some of the brightest minds in aerospace. She joined other experts on the Aviation R&D Requirements panel moderated by Aviation Week Network's Graham Warwick, offering a thought-provoking exploration of how research and development can shape the future of aviation. Victoria highlighted Airbus' approach as a blueprint for effective innovation—focusing on market needs and conducting rigorous integrations and trials to build confidence in taking calculated technological risks. With a legacy of pioneering advances like the fly-by-wire system, Victoria expressed her confidence that Airbus will lead the way in bringing new advanced technology to aviation, continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible. Victoria also spoke on the Transforming the Future of Aerospace: Innovations and Challenges panel (part of the AIAA Young Professionals series), where she shared leadership lessons gained throughout her career. She encouraged the audience to embrace fearless decision-making and to rethink traditional methods to climb the leadership ladder and tackle challenges at every level. The entire event underscored the importance of bold thinking, collaboration and a mission-driven approach to shaping the future of aerospace.
