🩵 Decarbonising logistics is a shared responsibility that requires commitment, investments, and collaboration across the ecosystem! 💪🏼🌟🌏⚓️ A crucial challenge is the price gap between fossil and green fuels. This is why we urge the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and its member states to take decisive action and implement a global regulatory framework that will level the playing field. A regulatory environment is key to ensuring that green fuels become commercially competitive with conventional fuels, so we can accelerate the decarbonisation of our industry💚 🤝The success of the energy transition relies on long-term partnerships across the value chain – from fuel providers and technology partners to customers and regulators. No one can do this alone! Tune in to the full episode to learn more about how we work together with our partners and customers to go All The Way To Zero here 👇🏼: https://lnkd.in/d9XEwmN6 #maersk #decarbonisation #greenfuels #energytransition #allthewaytozero

Hull efficiency - whether through high performance coatings, proactive cleaning, or both - is an indispensable to any decarbonsation strategy for shipping companies. The shipping industry - a vital part of today’s global economy, has made another vital step at COP 29, with more than 50 stakeholders calling to accelerate uptake of zero-emission fuels. https://lnkd.in/dCYKwWVA Jotun and World Shipping Council also discussed the interlink between decarbonisation goals and biofouling - underscoring the importance of clean hulls towards reducing carbon emissions from fossil-fuel powered ships, at the Ocean Pavilion. https://lnkd.in/dddd6mDq Regardless of fuel type, biofouling is a significant challenge that ships will continue to face in the water. Fouled hulls increases fuel consumption and operational expenses (which will be much more significant with alternative fuels).

Navigating Towards Sustainability: The Maritime Industry's Decarbonization Drive The maritime sector is undergoing a profound transformation to combat climate change. Transitioning to cleaner fuels like LNG, biofuels, and hydrogen, alongside wind and solar power, is key. Electrification, hybridization, and advanced ship designs further cut emissions. Regulatory measures by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) ensure industry compliance, with the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) leading the charge. Significant investment in research focuses on zero-emission fuels like green hydrogen and ammonia, as well as fuel cell technology. These collective efforts aim to slash the industry's greenhouse gas emissions, steering it towards a more sustainable future on the high seas.

We have launched our 2023 Sustainability Report! Our fifth annual publication represents the broadest disclosure we’ve done to date. We are proud of our progress in 2023 and would like to highlight these key achievements: • Our five-year trend of reducing our carbon intensity continues, a result of the efforts made by the crews onboard as well as the team ashore. • Our three LNG dual-fuel VLCCs were successfully delivered, and we have continued to invest in our LR1 fleet with six LNG dual-fuel ready newbuilds. • Zero major safety incidents in 2023. • We enhanced our current sustainability strategy, launching a project to deepen our understanding and integration of sustainability across our business. • We have substantially expanded our disclosure scope based on feedback from our broad pool of stakeholders. This achievement is owed to the support of the entire organization, turning this into a truly All Hands effort. Sustainability is a company-wide endeavor and a core principle of International Seaways. Thank you for your interest in our efforts to create a sustainable future.
