"I've never worked anywhere before where refilling your cup of coffee can change your life" - a few weeks ago, one of our amazing employees said this on our all hands call. She was referring to simply getting up and going to the kitchen and refilling her cup. Now I think about it every day and it makes me proud to be a part of building such a big community where countless peoples lives have changed because of who they have met, bumped into, or got to pitch at Capital Factory. It happens so much we call it "engineering serendipity".
100%
Been there, literally on the 5th floor in Austin. I was pitch-slapping Paul Norwood and he introduced me to my TDIF co-founder Brandon Conover. About a year later one of our PortCo founders similarly introduced me to Samuel Riehn, MBA, who now graciously allows me to call myself co-founder at SBIR Advisors Inc. it’s a magical place.
To be fair, your beverage area at Capital Factory #Austin is simply the BEST in any industry and across all lands. It didn’t happen ON the 5th Floor exactly, but I can confirm that mere moments after leaving it in 2016 and going to a TexMex dinner afterwards, I received my verbal DHS job offer which I accepted, and that experience changed my entire life onward and continues to evolve in beautiful ways today.
Will always be grateful to John R. for introducing me to the Capital Factory community in 2016. It has made a huge impact on my personal and professional life. The people I have met, how much I have learned and the opportunities that I have only had as a result of being a part of the Capital Factory, feel very fortunate,
I love this post and it made me think of Zappos. As Tony Hsieh believed, it was important for a work place to enable these moments of “serendipity,” or as he termed it, “collisions.”
Definitely stealing "engineering serendipity"
That's a fantastic atmosphere at Capital Factory, Bryan! How does this culture of serendipity impact daily operations?
Well done! So grateful and proud to be a part of this outstanding community

2moBryan there are some people who have a job and some people who work to achieve a grander mission, and I truly and wholeheartedly believe Capital Factory is in the latter camp.
