Nonprofits are vital for a society to flourish, and CIG is a proud partner with several nonprofit organizations on the West Coast. One of CIG's most loved benefits is Paid Volunteer Time (PVT) for our employees, which fosters community engagement -- from beach and park clean-ups to helping serve warm meals to those in need. To our employee volunteers and everyone who dedicates their time and efforts to nonprofits, thank you! #NationalNonprofitDay #CIGcelebrates

Today, I am honored to share a body of research, The Generosity Commission Report, a vital piece of research that explores the evolving landscape of giving and volunteering in America. The report highlights a concerning trend: while total donations and hours volunteered have risen, fewer people are participating in giving and volunteering. This matters deeply. Generosity is not just about money or time—it's about #connection. It binds us together. It bridges gaps, fosters civic engagement, and builds a sense of community in an increasingly isolated world. This report is not just a reflection on decline—it is a call to action. It encourages us to expand our understanding of philanthropy beyond traditional forms of giving and to embrace the diverse ways people contribute today, whether through mutual aid, giving circles, or digital platforms. The spirit of generosity is evolving, and we must evolve with it. I invite you to download the Generosity Commission Report today. It includes recommendations on research, culture, practices and policies centered around engaging the everyday donor and increasing volunteering. Let’s use it as a blueprint to broaden our approach to generosity and spark new ways to engage. Together, we can build a future where everyone feels empowered to give and make a difference. https://lnkd.in/gb6u4HJc #GenerosityMatters #CivicEngagement #TheGenerosityCommission #ExpandPhilanthropy

Social media & thought leadership for social impact orgs | Founder & CEO Cause Fokus | 2024 Leading Women Under 40 | Currently testing: Empathy x AI
Trust is the currency of the nonprofit sector - and guess who has the most of it? Small, locally operated institutions. 📈 Trust is at: 55% for small businesses. And 31% for local government. 📉 Compared to: 26% for corporations. And 24% for the federal government. One reason — people feel connected to these smaller organizations. They’re accessible. They make people feel seen and represented. They’re not out of reach for the public. If nonprofits want to make the most of this effect, they need to start operating like the smaller, grassroots organizations and create a tangible relationship with potential donors. They need to focus on community building, rather than just advertising what they’re up to. That authenticity and that trust will come from the real connections nonprofits make with their audience members. Do you agree? #Nonprofit #Community #NGO
