Employee vs freelancer: how many days do we really work per year? Employees: 207 Freelancers: 224 Calculation: Employee (In Belgium): 365 calendar days -106 week-end days -10 bank holidays -20 legal holidays -12 ATV/RTT days -5 sick days on ave -5 training days = 207 days, excluding events / team buildings, etc… Freelancers: 365 calendar days -106 week-end days -10 bank holidays -20 legal holidays -5 sick days on ave = 224 days (= + 8% vs employee) Explanation: a) Freelancers do not have 12 ATV/RTT days. If working full time for a client, freelancers’ contracts often stipulate 8h of work per day. Whereas it is typically +/- 7h30 for employees. Employees do effectively work 8h but recuperate 12 days via the ATV/RTT. Freelancers, not. b) Training: freelancers follow trainings between missions. Not included into the calculation: freelancers do have to work on their own admin, networking, etc… on top of work done for clients. Personally, it takes me easily 2-4h/week. And you, how many days do you really work per year?

The EasyStaff team has been working hard for the past several months to extend the EasyStaff Ecosystem. 🌍 This is not to say that we don’t always normally work hard, though! What we mean is, EasyStaff has become the fundamental service that further gave way to two more freelance-oriented services, EasyStart and EasyBusy. EasyStart is an invoicing tool for freelancers to help them work with clients worldwide, and EasyBusy is a freelance marketplace with 100% free functionality. Originally, the freelance management platform EasyStaff was designed to help businesses worldwide tap into a global talent pool and build remote teams. As more and more SMEs turn to foreign contractors, there is a growing need for a reliable B2B partner to navigate global payroll – EasyStaff takes on precisely this role. EasyStaff serves as a B2B partner between a business and its remote worker, either an independent contractor or a full-scale employee. For a company, EasyStaff is partner managed through a single B2B contract. For workers, it is an employer or a client that pays for their services. Thanks to this position, EasyStaff issues closing documents that let companies legalize their spending and avoid payroll taxes. In turn, freelancers are able to declare their income legally. The first and foremost super power of EasyStaff is that it caters worldwide, no exception. Building a truly international remote team stats with EasyStaff. The next great advantage is its low commissions – baseline is only 4% per payment. #easystaff #ecosystem #easystart #easybusy #sme #b2b #growth #business #payroll #contractorpayment #management #globalpayroll #payrollsolution

Just wrapped up a two-month project with a Workday service provider specializing in payroll, benefits, and accounting. Had so much fun writing blogs about total rewards and employee well-being, plus learning about finance and payroll taxes (less fun, but definitely lots of learning). Thanks for being so fun to work with! ✨ #wanderlusterco #wanderluster #freelancewriter #freelancer #blogger #freelanceblogger #b2bwriter #saas #contentwriter #clientlove #blogs

Think about this. Paying less and less for roles because you have many hiring options is not just a reflection of the obsolescence of their skill, it is a metric that shows the decreasing usefulness of your value proposition as a company. Regardless of the number of employees that you have, the moment you're unable to pay them adequately for their time, the alarm bells should be going off. While they're considering upskilling, you should also be considering upselling. In the years since I have been delivering services as a freelance contractor, I have also discovered that paying people what they're worth is the easiest way to get quality work done. Everyone worries about their sustenance. If you want to keep them attentive, match their effort with what they get paid, then challenge them to get more done for even better payment. ✌️

𝗠𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲. ☝️ I've heard a variation on this line from 4 separate freelancers this week. Their clients expected them to be "on" all the time. They were putting in unpaid overtime. The scope of their work has shifted into meaninglessness. And worst of all, they had no time left to market their business, find new clients, serve their existing clients, or 𝘦𝘯𝘫𝘰𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴. I've been in this situation myself, and I know it comes down to two primary issues: 💰𝗔 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 🙅 𝗔 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 The key to resolving this issue is diversifying your client base, so you can drop a client without sinking your finances. That's a lot easier typed than done, especially if you have no time left over after working on your backbone client. To solve 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 problem, you'll have to set some boundaries. Phrases like this can help: "If I take on this new project, it will put me over the allotted hours for the month. I can pick it up first thing in July, if you like." "I don't work on Fridays, but I have time Tuesday morning, if that's available for you." "I can help with this campaign, but I'll need to do some calculations to see how it will impact our budget. I'll get back to you with a new quote." Sometimes this will work, and the client will respect your boundaries. Other times, people throw a fit, push back, or fire you. That can sting, but trust me --- it's good riddance to bad rubbish. Clients that don't respect boundaries are doomed from the start. Your time is better spent ramping up your marketing and finding new leads. And when you're ready to do that, you should grab a copy of my 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲. Deets down below. 🤔 Have you ever been in this situation? 🤔 How do you set boundaries with clients? #freelance #clientmanagement #leadgeneration #inkwellcontent
