Multifamily Real Estate Investor/Syndicator - PEACEquity, LLC | Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California
I’ve heard that the best return on money is giving back. Achieving freedom of time from passive income through multifamily apartment investing provides many options in life. One option my wife and I have chosen is to give back to our community and help those in need through volunteering or financial gifts. Why give back? The world is imperfect, and we can do our part to make it a better place. The benefits of giving back: -Regular volunteering is proven to improve both physical and mental health. -Volunteering gives people a sense of purpose. -The fulfillment of giving back and contributing to society is unparalleled. -It is a great way to connect with your community and form new relationships. -Dedication to helping others teaches patience, kindness, and resilience. -Volunteering may help you discover a new passion or interest. Organizations my wife and I have volunteered time and/or donated money to include: ◻ OCUnited: A coalition of citizens, non-profits, and churches partnering in the healing and prevention of trauma through restorative relationships and whole person care in Orange County, California (ocunited.org) ◻ Camp Agape California: A free 4-day camp for California children who have parents in prison. The camp positions the kids to build positive, long-lasting relationships, experience spiritual, social, and relational growth, as well as prepare them for a restorative relationship with their parents upon release from prison. ◻ Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan’s Purse: Their mission is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. This is done by packing shoeboxes full of quality gifts and sending them to over 100 countries (samaritanspurse.org) ◻ Raising Funds for Pediatric Cancer Research at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles via the Malibu Triathlon: I’ve raised over $40,000 in the six years I’ve done the triathlon (malibutri.com) ◻ Second Harvest Food Bank Orange County: Provides dignified, equitable, and consistent access to nutritious food to those in need, thus creating a foundation for community health (feedoc.org) Fullerton Free Church Ministries: We have served as peer counselors (fullertonfree.com) ◻ The Third Option: A skills-based program that helps participants build stronger, more fulfilling relationships - we have served as small group facilitators (thethirdoptionoc.com) I’m curious how others help those in need. #giveback #passiveincome #freedomoftime

Great comments from Restore Hope about the impact that the funding from #AngelsDen 2023 had on their work! 'We were pitching for support in seeing our Community Hub come to life in Amersham through robust research and evaluation. In the months since then we have been able to have conversations with: - More than 50 professionals, service providers, church leaders, council members, local authority representatives - More than 25 Families and young people - Participated in 9 different local working groups - 300+ individuals attended our public consultation open day (we expected 30 people!) - 118 respondents to our public survey - Restore Hope’s Young Volunteers programme participants The result of this work has been strong encouragement for our development plans as well as an understanding of the current need in the area: - 99% of respondents agree that ‘A Community Hub for our local community to gather and seek support for the ups and downs of life’ is important - 98% agree that the redevelopment of St John’s into a Community Hub is a good use for the space and that it will benefit the local area - From a list of 12 items the Top four greatest needs identified were- Youth Provision (48% of respondents), Wellbeing and Mental Health (42%), Family Support (38%) and Advice and Guidance (35%) - Additionally a number of free response comments identified a need to support the elderly, and provide opportunities for intergenerational gathering. All this research has been possible because of the Angels Den grant, and we are now in a position to move forward with our planning of the Community Hub based on empirical data. We expect this robust research and evaluation will open doors to further conversations around funding, partnerships and programming for the new site in Amersham.' #buckinghamshire #charity #donation #funding #philanthropy #amersham #fundraising

FUNDING FOR CHILDREN/FAMILES... Please share this with anyone you think needs help. I don't often come across direct funding for individuals/families/children and this has never been more needed. *************************************************** Emergency Appeal Funding for children/families: For families in financial crisis, allowing them to apply for Cost of Living Grants of £50 per child which can be used for basic essentials – food, heating and clothes. Service providers who support vulnerable children, including schools, social services, health professionals and charities, can submit an application form to their local Cash for Kids office on behalf of the families they work with. Grant applications can only be made to support children living in the UK, or registered charities that help children from the UK. Note - the website says they aren't open yet but I think they are. Thanks UK Fundraising. General Grants for children/families: To support children from birth up to and including 18 years of age who are vulnerable, come from disadvantaged backgrounds or are living with an illness or disability. We also provide a lifeline to many other charities, organisations and community groups, funding much-needed services and life-changing equipment. Grants typically £1,000 to £3,000 but will consider applications for larger amounts. Not open Nov and Dec and may be closed at other times. Both of these grants are via Cash for Kids: https://lnkd.in/ePCGGpKy Financial Support for Vulnerable Households: The UK Government - Household Support Fund (HSF) was set up to help households that would otherwise struggle to buy food, pay essential utility bills, or meet other essential living costs during the current cost-of-living challenges. It closes on 31 Mar. £842 million was made available to county councils and unitary authorities in England, via the DWP. The funding is aimed particularly at those who may not be eligible for the other forms of government support. Check with your local council or Community Foundation to see how it's being made available in your area. https://lnkd.in/evnDW7jq This info has all come from Charity Excellence Framework and Ian's amazing bulletin. Thank you so much Ian. ************************************************** #ItMatters #EventyGrantTips #Grants

🌟 Urgent Appeal for Donations! 🌟 Today marks a critically important day for Freedom Youth Foundation. We've been given a remarkable opportunity by the Department of Health and Welfare to make a real difference in the lives of foster youth in need. 🏠 📣 We're thrilled to announce that we will be sponsoring rooms in a new 16-bedroom facility designed to provide emergency shelter for foster youth. This project isn't just about offering a roof over their heads; it's about creating a space that feels like a true home. 🛌🏡 What We're Doing: - Building a sensory room to help with emotional regulation and calmness. - Designing a fun-filled game room for play and relaxation. - Setting up an educational school room for learning and growth. - Installing can lights in rooms and bedrooms for a warm, inviting atmosphere. - Painting and decorating rooms to bring cheer and comfort. - Warming up the hallways to welcome these children into a homely environment. 🌈 Our goal is to make this facility as close to a real home as possible for these children. But to do this, we need your support. 💡 Exciting Opportunity: A generous donor has stepped forward with a fantastic offer – they will match every dollar donated, up to $25,000! This means we have the potential to raise $50,000, doubling the impact of your generosity. 🎯 Our Target: We're on a mission to raise $50,000 to complete this vital update by mid-February. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to our goal. ✨ How You Can Help: Donate: Every dollar counts and will be matched up to $25,000, doubling your impact. 🔗 Donation link: https://lnkd.in/gYT7uBpV Share: Spread the word among your network. The more people know, the more help we can raise. Support: Your moral support and encouragement mean a lot to us. 🙏 We believe in the power of community and kindness. Together, let's make a difference in these children's lives and give them the loving, nurturing environment they deserve. #FreedomYouthFoundation #FosterCare #CommunitySupport #DonationsNeeded #EveryDollarCounts #MakeADifference #FreedomYouthFoundation #NewYearNewBeginnings #FosterYouthEmpowerment #GrowWithUs #HopeAndOpportunity #fostercare #fosteryouth #lifeskillsforkids #financialliteracy #financialliteracyforkids #sports #athletics Freedom Fiduciaries® SageView Advisory Group CRCA - Consumer Reporting Compliance Associates Human Resources Association of Treasure Valley (HRATV) SHRM Fredricksen Insurance Svc Inc Topgolf Idaho Central Credit Union Shane Hanson Cristina Hansen, CPFA® Natalie Overton Randy Long Jon Upham Lesley Segadelli Matt Foster Mary Irby Adam Pitale Chris Jeppsen Melissa Schultz, SHRM-CP Curtis Williams Raymond A. This is tragic for our communities. Many nonprofits are in financial crisis. The time is now to invest in fundraising strategies that will support your organization today and build a lasting culture of philanthropy for tomorrow. It’s too serious to wait. It’s also a great time to make an additional gift to a nonprofit close to your heart. Are you leading or working with a nonprofit? Let’s connect and start planning now, so you’re not left wondering what could have been done differently in a year. Here’s what others have experienced: "Ellen helped improve our fundraising outcomes, and that means more children have better lives." #nonprofits #leadership #communitydevelopment #fundraisingstrategies #ExecutiveDirectors #DevelopmentDirectors #SocialImpact

As CEO at Groundswell (fka OC Human Relations), I help leaders transform organizations, businesses, and schools to be more equitable and human centered.
Nobody will be turned away from our Groundswell Summit based on their ability to pay. Here's why: our goal is to make educational opportunities about equity and belonging accessible to everyone. Ticket pricing is based on an honor system; we ask that you pay what you can. And, if you can donate more than ticket price, we encourage you to make a donation towards a ticket to pay it forward for another participant. Believe it or not, we first tried this model at last year’s fundraising panel luncheon about “Racial Weathering.” (Thank you Khushbindar Kaur Sood, CFRE, our Director of Development, for supporting this shift!) We originally set higher ticket prices because it was a fundraiser, after all. But a staff member, who had just deferred grad school to work with us, pointed out that college students would really benefit from these learnings. We decided that there’s a time for fundraising … and a time for making education accessible. By introducing a sliding scale with a $25 community price and a higher option for those who could afford more, we saw ticket sales soar and the event sold out. While we probably raised less money than we could have, we made a lot of strong relationships that have blossomed into impactful support for our organization -- including contracts for DEI training, where we can reach even more people.. Success as a nonprofit is all about community partnership! We were provided the opportunity for a donation of 20+ suitcases (and a full tub of toiletries); which, is not our exact "lane" when working with foster youth; so, we brought them to the amazing OCJ Kids for foster youth aging out of group homes. OCJ Kids fills the suitcases up with all kinds of necessity items that youth need as they transition from foster care and journey into adulthood. #fosteringheroes #fosteringheroesfoundation #partnership #partners #nonprofitleadership #nonprofitorganization #nonprofits #fostercare #fostercareawareness #fosteryouth #fosterchildren #fostering #nonprofitsuccess #nonprofit #nonprofitorganizations #nonprofitwork #nonprofitgrowth #nonprofitimpact #givingback #communitypartners #communitypartnership #communitypartnerships
