One of the greatest changes in the mobility industry is the shift from traditional vehicle ownership to usage-based models. Vehicle as a Service (VaaS) is an umbrella concept that covers various business models which all boil down to the same simple goal: to give people access to a vehicle precisely when needed, without the burdens of ownership. Have a read of what we think are the technological requirements for a successful #VehicleAsAService model below 👇

2024: A BIG year for SMALL While BIG spectacles like NewYear’s fireworks are exciting, SMALL changes will deliver a more sustainable, diverse and interesting future: SMALL LIVING Australia has enough housing stock for everyone, but it’s unfairly distributed. Don’t be part of the problem: unless you use a space (e.g. your fourth bedroom, or your holiday home) 95% of the time, consider selling or sharing it. My family has downsized to a two-bed apartment in a medium-density development and we love its convenience and low-maintenance. We’ve traded our suburban backyard for a shared rooftop garden and local parks that we regularly enjoy with our neighbours. Check out Never Too Small for inspiration. MICROMOBILITY 50% of all urban trips in Australia are less than 5km and private cars sit idle 95% of the time. My family cycles, walks or uses public transport for most trips and we are about to trade our private car for shared subscription services. I work for microFleet®, creating smart electric bike and scooter fleets for shared transport and deliveries. Politicians love to cut ribbons on grand infrastructure projects such as tunnels and suburban rail loops, but micromobility delivers far more bang for your buck. Check out Micromobility Industries for inspiration. SHRINKING WAISTLINES AND BILLS Losing weight and getting fit are common New Year’s resolutions. Active transport (on a bike or on foot) improves physical and emotional wellbeing while reducing costs, congestion and pollution. I’m not going to run a marathon or climb Mt Everest this year. I’m making small, sustainable changes to enjoy my health, a better social life, a lower cost of living, and a safer climate. #newyearresolution #micromobility #smallliving #cycling #activetransport #downsize #sharedservices

Things usually move at a slower pace on a Friday in City of Amsterdam, but today is extra special 👀 The city has now set 80% of all roads to 30km per hour. This move will help make the city more livable, safer for cyclists and pedestrians, and increase adoption of new e-mobility solutions. We’re all for it! 🤩 It’s going to take some time for Amsterdammers to adjust to the new speed, but we expect some positive changes: - more people on bikes, and e-bikes in particular. With most e-bikes topping out at 25km, two wheels becomes a much more attractive option ⚡️🚲 - fewer trucks and more sustainable delivery vehicles, including battery powered bakfiets You can check out the city’s website (in Dutch) here: https://lnkd.in/gM_DKUbn #ebike #ebikebatterycharging #batterystorage #transportation #urbanmobility #PowerShelter #Amsterdam #30km

If the shared electric cars from the BattMobility fleet could tell stories, they would take you on adventures all across Europe. I've been using this Batt ass EV sharing platform since the early days. It's amazing how one shared Model X led to a fleet of a couple of hundred electrical cars, catering to everyone's needs. From the heavy duty errand run to the supermarket to remote business or holiday trips, there's a suitable EV for all your needs. I've used the smaller Zoe for shorter trips, the spacious eRafter with its seven seats to pick up the daughter and five of her friends from a party out of town. 🤷♂️ And just now, we enjoyed the comfort of a Volvo Recharge for our ocean holiday in the South. It's hard not to like this idea of shared mobility. Even if you are a petrolhead swearing by your own car, hear me out: every shared car takes seven cars off the streets. This means more parking space in your street, and more fluid traffic on the road. Plus add all of the above: always a suitable car for your different mobility needs. Wonderful, right? When people ask me if I hold BattMobility shares, my answer is always the same: I wish, but no*. I just think their mission and vision are what does it for me, along with the execution. *Chris de Guytenaer, I wouldn't mind though. 😉 cc David De Beukelaer Ken Ackermans #sharedmobility #mobility #EVs #electricvehicles

🥳 Fluctuo's European Shared Mobility Index for Q3 2023 is out. In a nutshell: 📈🚲 The ridership of dockless bikes across Europe has increased by 44%, Paris is the city that saw the second-highest average number of trips taken per month, probably due to the e-scooter ban, and fleets have grown 12% since last year. 📈🚘 Another impressive statistic, shared car usage has increased by 22%, with Berlin and Hamburg leading the pack with an average of 600k and 350k trips per month, respectively. Madrid is just behind with 325k trips per month. How to explain this growth, especially in Spain? Local initiatives such free parking for shared electric cars and elevated parking fees for private car parking in city centres have been set up and encourage users to do without their private cars. 🔗 Fore more details, here's the link to the study: https://lnkd.in/evax42Z. 🗞️ That's our Mobility Brief for this week, share it and subscribe! #micromobility #automotive
