Did someone say #SuccessStory?! We’ve got an inspiring one to share. #TBT to 2017 when the US Army issued a #SBIR for the integration of #ATR into small caliber/close-combat weapon systems for infantry squads. Our team demonstrated technological excellence throughout each phase, enhancing the lethality of Army munitions and reducing the risk to DoD personnel engaged in combat operations. Read the full article below, featured in DoD SBIR/STTR Program Office's most recent quarterly newsletter, page 9 Headline: #OKSI Build Systems to Improve US Army Weapon Platforms

The video that is shown is an example of a well staged anti-armour ambush, with evidence of potential prior planning by the defenders. The track the armour is heading down seems to be well used, the enemy vehicles are constrained to moving in column, and their protection. the infantry, are on the vehicle rather than dispersed around it. Hitting the lead vehicle with an artillery strike, then following up with artillery and small arms fire while the enemy is confused, disorientated and shocked that their safe passage was not safe at all maximises the impact of the ambush. The ongoing confused radio chatter as individuals try to understand what has happened and what to do next also highlights the shock impact of an ambush, and the need for quick decision making, less you are pinned down and torn apart by a well planned attack. One would assume that this had recce, artillery and infantry elements to the ambush, demonstrating the importance, and effectiveness, of ground based combined arms warfare at all levels. However, rapid, effective decision-making is not confined to the battlefield; if in business you find yourself in the middle of a hostile takeover, or an unfolding crisis, the difference is how effective your leadership is in identifying the key threat, what the impact is, and what options you have; sometimes there is no answer, just the least worst case scenario.
A Russian assault group learned the hard way what the U.S. Army knew decades ago. It’s dangerous for infantry to ride into battle on top of tanks. A recent video purportedly from northeastern Ukraine graphically illustrates the risks of so-called “tank desant,” the practice of piling infantry on top of tanks for a quick trip to the line of contact. The video, shot by one of the infantry, captures the moment a Ukrainian cluster shell—perhaps an American-made Dual-Purpose Improved Conventional Munition, or DPICM—explodes overhead. A 155-millimeter DPICM round scatters 88 grenade-size submunitions across a 100-yard radius. In 1983, a U.S. Army study concluded that DPICMs are four times as effective compared to unitary shells—with a single high-explosive warhead—when fired at a platoon of enemy fighting vehicles.

Thorn in the war: from 1914 to 2024 Andriy Nesmiyan May 12, 2024 10 min. Read Thorn in the war: from 1914 to 2024 During a full-scale invasion, more and more offensive operations are carried out by infantry - often without armor cover at all. The infantry is mobile, invisible, dispersed. It is not as easy to hit as a large unwieldy armored vehicle. But the infantry also has weaknesses. I would like to talk about one of them in this article. It is based on public sources, because sometimes barbed wire stretched in the right place can disrupt a large-scale enemy offensive plan. Therefore, I will leave constructive solutions to my fellow engineers. https://lnkd.in/g56G-qwd
