Chanthaburi and Chiang Rai, 2 of Thailand's secondary cities, top the search rankings! 🌟 Agoda, a travel platform provider, reveals a 23% increase in searches for accommodations in secondary cities for in the rainy season among Thai travellers compared to 2023. ‘Chanthaburi’ tops the list as the most popular secondary city, followed by Nakhon Si Thammarat. Nakhon Nayok stands out in 3rd place with search numbers doubling, followed by Ratchaburi and Chiang Rai, respectively. This trend is quite similar among foreign travellers, who likewise prefer secondary cities. The top 5 secondary cities are Chiang Rai, Udon Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Chanthaburi, and Trang. These cities are known for their natural attractions, historical sites, and distinct cultures, all of which entice visitors from all over the world. Did you know? The growing popularity of secondary cities partly due to tax policy that encourage travel among 55 secondary provinces. This measure is in effective from 1 May to 30 November 2024.
