#Greenenergy, such as solar, hydraulic #energy, and wind power, slashes carbon footprints. With advancing technology, renewables offer cleaner, more accessible electricity. They mitigate greenhouse gases and stimulate local economies. Challenges remain, but innovation promises a #sustainable energy future. Embrace green energy for a smarter, cleaner tomorrow. An organization's carbon footprint includes the direct as well as the indirect emissions that it causes. The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (for carbon accounting of organizations) calls these Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. There are several methodologies and online tools to calculate the carbon footprint. They depend on whether the focus is on a country, organization, product or individual person. For example, the carbon footprint of a product could help consumers decide which product to buy if they want to be climate aware. For climate change mitigation activities, the carbon footprint can help distinguish those economic activities with a high footprint from those with a low footprint. So the #carbon footprint concept allows everyone to make comparisons between the climate impacts of individuals, products, companies and countries. It also helps people devise strategies and priorities for reducing the carbon footprint. The carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2eq) emissions per unit of comparison is a suitable way to express a carbon footprint. This sums up all the greenhouse gas emissions. It includes all greenhouse gases, not just carbon dioxide. And it looks at emissions from economic activities, events, organizations and services. In some definitions, only the carbon dioxide emissions are taken into account. These do not include other greenhouse gases, such as methane and nitrous oxide. What is a #carbonfootprint? A carbon footprint is the total amount of #greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide and methane) that are generated by our actions. The average #carbon footprint for a person in the United States is 16 tons, one of the highest rates in the world. Globally, the average carbon footprint is closer to 4 tons. To have the best chance of avoiding a 2℃ rise in global temperatures, the average global carbon footprint per year needs to drop to under 2 tons by 2050. Lowering individual carbon footprints from 16 tons to 2 tons doesn’t happen overnight! By making small changes to our actions, like eating less meat, taking fewer connecting flights and line drying our clothes, we can start making a big difference. GHG Emissions – Actions Speak Louder Than Words Proactive measures on Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions for an organization are the ones which SET THE TONE for a Meaningful Change among the Value Chain Partners. Scope 1 (Direct Emissions) and Scope 2 (Indirect Emissions) emissions are defined as the emissions from an Organizations’ own operations and purchased energy sources, respectively. By addressing these internal sources of emissions, organizations not only reduce their carbon footprint but also set a POWERFUL PRECEDENT for their value chain partners. Scope 3 (Indirect Value Chain Emissions) emissions, emanating from the entirety of an Organisations’ value chain. These emissions often lie beyond direct control, posing a significant challenge to organizations looking to achieve carbon neutrality. When an organization commits to mitigating its Scope 1 emissions by optimizing processes, investing in renewable energy, or adopting energy-efficient technologies, it sends a clear message to its value chain partners—a message that actions indeed speak louder than words. Similarly, tackling Scope 2 emissions through strategic procurement of renewable energy further amplifies this message. In doing so, they catalyze a ripple effect, prompting energy suppliers to transition towards greener alternatives. Ultimately, by leading by example in addressing their own emissions, organizations pave the way for broader systemic change. Their actions not only foster a culture of environmental responsibility but also encourage value chain partners to follow suit, thus driving collective progress towards a more sustainable future. It's not just about what we say—it's about what we do. And when it comes to GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions, actions truly speak louder than words. #Sustainability #GHGEmissions #CorporateResponsibility #GreenTechnology #CarbonFootprint #ValueChain #ClimateChange #CorporateCulture #EmissionsReduction #GreenSupplyChain #GreenTransition #NetZero #EcoFriendly #GreenEconomy #CorporateSustainability

Global Substation Solutions is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2045 and we have partnered with Positive Planet What does Net Zero mean in practice? To achieve Net Zero, we will be aiming to reduce emissions in line with the latest science-based targets (SBTs). SBTs are greenhouse gas reduction goals set by organisations, they are defined as “science-based” when they align with the scale of reductions required to limit global temperature increases to 1.5°C compared to pre-industrial temperatures. To achieve Net Zero under this scenario, we will need to reduce our absolute emissions by 90% from our baseline year. SBTi recommends that organisations commit to near-term targets (that cover a minimum of 5 years/maximum of 10 years from the baseline year), as well as long-term targets. Our near-term targets: - Reduce scope 1 emissions by 42% by 2030. - To procure 80% renewable electricity by 2025 and 100% by 2030. - Reduce Scope 3 emissions by 42% by 2030. Our long-term targets: - Reduce our total market-based emissions (scope 1, 2 and 3) by at least 90% from the baseline year by 2045. - Neutralise any residual emissions using verified carbon offsets. #netzero #positiveplanet #carbonreduction
