#GOODNEWSTHURSDAY According to the Carbon Monitor Project, total #global #climate #pollution from February to May 2024 #declined slightly compared to the same period in 2023. Experts believe that the #clean #energy transition has now reached a stage where #emissions will level off and subsequently start to #decrease. However, despite experiencing the #hottest year and #ocean temperatures on record, and an increase in #extreme #weather events, atmospheric #CO2 levels are still rising rapidly. The path forward involves #accelerating the deployment of key #clean technologies like #solarpanels, #windturbines, and #electricvehicles, while also addressing non-CO2 emissions. The clean energy sector's progress in 2024 has been remarkable, with China covering 90% of its #electricity #demand growth through #solar and #wind generation. While #challenges remain, International Energy Agency (IEA) Agency notes that without #recent advancements in clean energy, #global emissions would have risen significantly more. "Achieving the peak emissions milestone would be the critical first step toward bending the curve downward to ultimately reach net zero emissions and stabilize Earth’s climate." https://lnkd.in/e9SAUkG5

In the face of escalating climate change and environmental degradation, there has never been a more crucial moment to address the global energy landscape. The pressing need for a transition to clean energy has become an undeniable reality, and the stakes are higher than ever. Presently, over 675 million people lack access to electricity, and a staggering 2.3 billion individuals resort to cooking with harmful fuels, according to a report by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD). The urgent need to curb carbon emissions is evident as we witness extreme weather events, melting ice caps, and disruptions to ecosystems worldwide. Transitioning to clean energy sources, such as solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal power, is imperative to mitigate the impacts of climate change. These renewable sources offer a sustainable alternative by generating electricity without emitting harmful pollutants or greenhouse gases. #WorldCleanEnergyDay #WorldCleanEnergyDay2024 #sustainability #renewableenergy #greenenergy

In a 10-year context, climate-related risks contribute 5 of the top 10 threats as the world nears or crosses “climate tipping points”, according to the Davos risk analysis. We can limit the risk from damaging climate tipping points but only if we turn words into action. Investing in both renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency solutions bridges the gap to 2030 and helps us keep the 1.5°C target in reach. We have virtually no chance of meeting our future energy needs, and certainly no chance of achieving net zero by 2050 if we don’t radically rethink energy efficiency as a key tool to decarbonize society. We have the solutions. It’s even good business to reduce and reuse energy. What are we waiting for? Energy use is at the heart of the climate challenge. Did you know industry and electricity generation alone account for nearly 60% of global greenhouse gas emissions? 🏭⚡ The bulk of these emissions come from burning fossil fuels like coal and oil, driving up CO₂ levels and contributing to global warming. But here’s the good news: even small changes in how we consume power can lead to significant reductions in emissions. 🌱💡 By shifting to renewable energy and optimizing energy use in industries and homes, we can make real progress in the fight against climate change. Through collaboration with organizations like Hapro Electronics AS Electronics and support from Grønn Framtid and Innlandet fylkeskommune, By working together, we’re identifying ways to minimize energy consumption and reduce emissions, playing our part in building a cleaner, greener world. 🌿 So, how can we do better? • Can industries adopt more energy-efficient practices to reduce their carbon footprints? • What role do individuals play in lowering their energy use to help reduce emissions? Your thoughts matter—join the conversation below and share your ideas! 💬 Let’s discuss how we can all contribute to a more sustainable future. 🌍 For a deeper dive into the connection between power consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, check out this article https://lnkd.in/dGG2QAtw #Sustainability #ClimateAction #GreenEnergy #GHGEmissions

Tomorrow is the International Day of Climate Action, a day that reminds us of the urgency to tackle climate change head-on. The negative effects of climate change are clear: 🔸 Global temperatures have already risen by 1.2°C since the late 19th century, with the last decade being the warmest on record. 🔸 2024 is on track to become the warmest year ever recorded, with August 2024 marked as the hottest August in over 175 years According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), over 40% of global CO2 emissions can be mitigated with energy storage and flexible grid solutions. Now, more than ever, the role of sustainable solutions like renewable energy and long duration energy storage (LDES) is critical. 💡 It’s time to double down on innovation, policy changes, and global cooperation to make a real impact. #ClimateActionNow #SustainableFuture #LDES #NetZero

How clean is "clean hydrogen"? Although it is not a greenhouse gas, like carbon dioxide and methane, hydrogen contributes to global warming. When leaked into the atmosphere, it mixes with oxygen to create water vapor, and contributes to ground level ozone, which creates smog. The U.S Department of Energy announced last year that it would fund seven Regional Clean Hydrogen hubs with $7 billion to accelerate the deployment of blue and green hydrogen. But not everyone is bullish on the fuel's uses, especially given the potential environmental toll. EDF's Mark S. Brownstein is wary of the climate impact of the fuel, and says it “still has profound impacts on the atmosphere when it is vented or leaked.” Especially when it comes to replacing methane with blue hydrogen, which needs a carbon capture rate of 90% or higher to have a positive climate impact. Brownstein is skeptical about the aggressive push toward clean hydrogen because it resembles the transition to natural gas in 2011 as an alternative to coal. **Unveiling the Power of Green Energy** Get ready as we're about to unpack the multitudinous perks of renewable energy in the subsequent weeks! It's an open secret that the prime benefit of renewable energy is its tremendous contribution to ecological preservation. The majority of the greenhouse gases that form a blanket around our planet and trap solar heat are produced by energy generation, a process that typically burns fossil fuels for electricity and heat. Fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas are the main culprits behind global climate change, accounting for a whopping 75 percent of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions and nearly 90 percent of carbon dioxide emissions. Science is speaking loud and clear on this: to dodge the severe fallout of climate change, emissions need to be cut down by half by 2030 and hit net-zero by 2050. Get ready to embrace the change! #RenewableEnerggy #Environment #Benefits
