🎡 Last Day to Visit the Rockingham County Fair! 🎡 https://lnkd.in/eZ7wMrd7 As the Rockingham County Fair wraps up today, it’s the perfect opportunity for parents to engage in fun activities that can also support their child’s speech/language, occupational, and behavioral development. 🗣️ Speech/Language: Take advantage of the lively environment by narrating your day together. Talk about the animals you see, describe the rides, or discuss the food options. This helps expand vocabulary and build conversational skills. 💪 Occupational: Encourage your child to participate in hands-on activities, like petting animals, playing games, or navigating the fairgrounds. These activities can improve motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and sensory processing. 🌟 Behavioral: Fairs can be overwhelming, but they’re also a great way to teach self-regulation. Use positive reinforcement and set clear expectations before heading into crowded areas. Practice turn-taking and patience while waiting in line. Remember, learning can happen anywhere—even at the fair! Enjoy the last day and make the most of this opportunity to support your child’s development in a fun and engaging way. #ChildDevelopment #SpeechTherapy #OccupationalTherapy #BehaviorTherapy #RockinghamCountyFair #ParentingTips

Together we can stop the re-invasion of ecosystem weeds in our 34500 ha catchment area that runs from Okere Falls to Pukehina: the Little Waihi Catchment on Coastal Bay of Plenty. Hear from our forestry advisor, Stef Kincheff as he discusses the crucial role of weed management at Bay Gold Wetland on Maniatutu Road. This major project aims to reduce sediment, nitrates, and phosphates in the Waihi catchment, but invasive weeds like pampas, woolly nightshade, and honeysuckle pose a serious threat. If we don’t act now, the millions spent on restoration could go up in smoke! 🌾 https://lnkd.in/g5sXyee9 Catchment groups like Wai Kōkopu are key to protecting these wetlands by bringing the community together to create buffer zones and stop reinvasion. Let’s take action! Join us for Discover the Wealth of Wetlands Day on Wednesday, 16th October 2024 to learn more and get involved in our efforts. 📅 When: 16th October 2024, 9:30 AM 📍 Where: Pongakawa Hall RSVP here:https://lnkd.in/gWPMgGxV
