Brief and highly intersting mid-week read on #decarbonizing the #builtenvironment: ~7% of global #GHG emissions come from #cement alone (for reference, aviation in total accounts for ~3%). So, if we are serious about #netzero in 2050, decarbonizing this industry should be a top priority. My collegueas Sebastian Reiter, Fabian Apel, Johanna Hoyt, P.Eng., MBA , Francisco Marques and Patrick Schulze have outlined pathways, technology levers and business model innovations that could get us there in their new publication "Cementing your lead: The cement industry in the net-zero transition". Next to technology levers such us #CCUS and low-carbon cementitious materials, they identified #circularity as a key solution (say reusing concrete waste for recycled content in new-concrete production).
