We're excited to share that Venus Medtech's self-developed Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve Replacement (TPVR) system, VenusP-Valve, has successfully held its kick-off meeting at the University of Virginia School of Medicine (UVA) for the PROTEUS IDE clinical study. This marks another significant step forward since the product received IDE approval from the US FDA last year, marking the official commencement of the crucial clinical trial enrollment in the United States. The PROTEUS clinical study is a prospective, multi-center, non-randomized, interventional study for patients with moderate to severe pulmonary regurgitation accompanied by native Right Ventricular Outflow Tract (RVOT) dysfunction. The study will enroll 60 patients, and its data will support registration applications with both the US FDA and Japan's PMDA. Insightful recommendations form SMOB

Currently, people living with #obesity do not always get the treatment that they need. Not only in a rich country like #Switzerland, but also in other parts of this planet. This is true for both medical and surgical treatment options. They are three main reasons for this issue: First, there is a #shortage of available medicaments. Second, those agents that are available are not allocated in the way they should be allocated since there is still a general misunderstanding of obesity and how and if it must be treated. Third, similar to the patients with obesity who are frequently #stigmatized as weak and undisciplined, obesity treatment is also stigmatized and considered as a therapy that is mainly cosmetically motivated and in its core unneccessary - this is especially true for #baritaricmetabolicsurgery. Please see here a proposal of the Swiss Society for the Study of Morbid Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (SMOB) to prioritize the avaliable treatment options which a special emphasis on current pharmacological agents on the market - to make sure that patients with the biggest need get the best available treatment!
