At Ride For Freedom, we believe in the power of education and advocacy to create positive change. We invite your organisation to be a part of an initiative that aims to establish a transformative Schools Programme in Wales. This endeavour is fuelled by the fundraising and sponsorship opportunities presented by an upcoming tour led by Gordon Miller, Founder and CEO of Ride For Freedom. Ride For Freedom's mission is to educate young minds and ignite their passion for advocacy. Gordon plans to visit a primary school in Cardiff to shed light on the critical link between climate change and modern slavery. 𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐲, 𝟏 𝐢𝐧 𝟒 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧? This alarming statistic underscores the urgent need for action. Climate change not only affects our planet but also has profound consequences for people, creating conditions for human trafficking and labour exploitation. By addressing both climate change and modern slavery, we can protect vulnerable populations and build more sustainable, equitable futures. Whether you choose to sponsor, participate, donate, fundraise during the ride, or support us from afar, your contribution will help us achieve our goal - https://lnkd.in/d-QNgtut Together, we can create a brighter future for all. Contact the team via email: info@rideforfreedom.org and visit https://lnkd.in/ed3CcYTk to learn more about our mission. A message from our Trustees and staff. In light of the disorder and violence seen across the country over the last week, Croydon Voluntary Actions wants to reach out to our communities and beyond. Like so many others, we have been appalled by the racist violence that has been used to terrorise communities across the UK. The roots of this hatred and intimidation lie deep in our society - fed and exploited over many years. However, what has become even more apparent this last week is how individual and community acts of love, care, and resistance have challenged, with such apparent confidence, any drift into believing that we are anything but united against hatred, intolerance and division. The strength of Croydon is in the diversity of this great borough and our message is clear that we are united against hatred, intolerance and division. People or the organisations we work alongside will not stand for these challenges to community cohesion. Charities, community groups and faith organisations will not bow down to threats. We already work hand in hand delivering social change, improving people’s lives, and responding to emergencies - and we will continue to do so to defeat those responsible for these horrific acts. #strongertogether

January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and we would like to take a moment to acknowledge the severity of trafficking - the crime of stealing freedom for profit - as well as rally support to tackle this issue. By creating awareness, we can aid those who have been silenced and lack the agency to speak for themselves. Collectively, we have the responsibility to target inhumane issues and can do so through philanthropic investments. To learn more about trafficking and how it affects children, as well as vetted nonprofits working to fight this horrendous issue, visit "Initiatives" on our SaltExchange website (https://lnkd.in/e8wXg6Sv) to view our philanthropic reports. Please know you never have to put your trauma on display in this space. When it comes to receiving care, that shouldn’t be required. Ask for help if you need it. Help others if you can. There is more than enough for everyone.✊🏽🌱 #CommunityCare ALT TEXT: A drawn bag of groceries on a light blue background that says ask for help if you need it, help folks if you can. We are one of 108 NSW organisations and groups who have made a joint submission with #RaiseTheAgeNSW in #NSWPol to the NSW Government Inquiry into community safety in regional and rural communities. We all want communities to be safer. We’re calling on the NSW Government to: - Resource and support Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations to work with First Nations children, families, and communities. - Invest in services that prevent crime from the start. - Fund targeted services and interventions that help kids learn to be accountable, and do better, when they go off track. - Be guided by evidence and #RaiseTheAgeNSW from 10 to at least 14 without exception. The group backing the submission is diverse, and includes Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations, peak bodies, large charities, small community and place-based organisations, and influential and respected voices and experts from across NSW and Australia. Cara Varian CEO, NSW Council of Social Service (NCOSS) says, "We all want communities to be safe, and we need to keep kids out of the criminal system. A purely punitive system does not work. We require a holistic approach that invests in critical community services that prevent crime from the start. Ensuring that services such as youth and family support services, homelessness, and mental health are funded adequately and available to all communities in regional and rural NSW will help kids get the support they need to thrive." 18th July, Mandela Day, people should be encouraged to dedicate 67 minutes to community service, honoring Nelson Mandela's 67 years of public service. Some specific ways individuals can give back to their communities: 1. Help at Local Shelters: Spend time assisting at homeless shelters or food banks. This could involve preparing and serving meals, organizing donations, or simply providing company to those in need. 2. Community Clean-Up Drives: Organize or join efforts to clean parks, streets, lakes or beaches. This helps create a cleaner, safer environment and fosters community spirit. 3.Educational Support: Volunteer at local schools or libraries. Offer tutoring services, read to children, or help organize educational events. 4. Visit the Elderly: Spend time with elderly people in nursing homes or in your neighborhood or Old age homes.Engage in conversations, help with chores, or organize a small event to brighten their day. Giving back to your community is indeed important. It fosters a sense of connection, helps to improve the quality of life for others, and can provide personal fulfillment. Contributing time, resources, or expertise can strengthen community bonds, support local initiatives, and create a more supportive and resilient environment. Whether through volunteering, supporting local businesses, or participating in community events, every effort can make a significant impact towards Equality. #DEI#Equality#CommunityService# volunteering #Community bond#Connections#improvedquality of life#personalgoals#fulfillment#gratitude #givingback#peace #buildequalsociety#beautifulsafespaces
