A new ruling from CMS changes how the SSI percentage is calculated. CMS Ruling 1498-R3, issued March 4, 2024, revokes Ruling 1498-R2 and applies to each properly pending claim in a disproportionate share hospital (DSH) appeal or open cost report, including those involving patient discharges pre-dating October 1, 2004. Inpatient hospitals will need to evaluate open and pending appeals prior to October 1, 2004, and look at how SSI realignments are impacted.

Regarding the Acute Hospital Care at Home model, Bipartisan Policy Center wants policymakers to: 1. increase participation in the program 2. gather more data on the quality of the model 3. ensure safety for participating caregivers and patients

The Case Mix Index (CMI) is the average relative DRG weight of a hospital's inpatient discharges, calculated by summing the Medicare Severity-Diagnosis Related Group (MS-DRG) weight for each discharge and dividing the total by the number of discharges. In Elite Hospital we are aiming to rise our case mix from 1.2 till 1.6 in 2024 with improving our costing plans

In 2023, the Alliance of Wound Care Stakeholders addressed coding, coverage, and payment with the submission of 26 comments on policies spanning the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (PPS), Hospital Inpatient PPS & Home Health PPS. We tackled policy issues related to CTPs, surgical dressings, topical oxygen, NPWT, compression, and more. Surging Hospital Prices Are Helping Keep Inflation High https://lnkd.in/e8Nzxqif Interesting article in the WSJ today connecting rising inpatient care costs to the stickiness of overall US inflation. “Hospital prices specifically jumped 7.7% last month from a year ago, the highest increase in any month since October 2010, the Labor Department said Wednesday.“ Stating it’s a multifaceted challenge is putting it lightly. I’m proud to work at CCX to support our hospital partners. Multiple analysis / studies point to solid discharge planning as a critical component to reduce readmissions and improve quality.
