Ever wondered about the story behind our name? On this #ThrowbackThursday, we are revisiting where the “Anchor” in Anchor Health Properties came from and how the company began. Founded in 1985, our company initially focused on retail development. In the early 1990s, the company started exploring how our retail development expertise could be applied to the healthcare sector, especially in outpatient settings. Recognizing that healthcare consumers value what all consumers value, it was a natural transition from retail to healthcare development, and at the time, 30 years ago, this was well ahead of the consumer-focused healthcare trends we see today. The name Anchor Health Properties stemmed from the premise of the "anchor" department store that "anchored" a traditional mall.
