Director General, Central and West Asia at Asian Development Bank (ADB)

ADB approved yesterday a new country partnership strategy for Turkmenistan. The aim is to foster a competitive, diversified, and knowledge-based economy led by an innovative private sector. Under this strategy spanning 2024-2028, our assistance will be concentrated on three core priorities. These include supporting the green transition towards a sustainable and climate-resilient economy, enhancing economic competitiveness through diversification with a focus on private sector and human capital development, and promoting structural reforms and institutional growth. Additionally, we will be actively involved in the development of sustainable and integrated transport networks, particularly railways along significant trade corridors such as the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) corridors. This will play a vital role in enhancing the efficiency, reliability, safety, and integration of both domestic and international supply chains.
