🌟 Big news for career development! 🌟 The Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) strongly supports the Business Council of Australia call for a career practitioner in every secondary school to address Australia's skills shortage and prepare young Australians for the workforce. CICA President Megan Fritsch highlights: “Career practitioners ensure students receive structured, evidence-based guidance for future job opportunities, particularly in critical sectors like AI and advanced manufacturing.” Read our media release to see how CICA is advocating for high-quality, scalable career development services in schools led by qualified practitioners. #CareerDevelopment #FutureWorkforce #CICA #SkillsShortage
Excellent news! This would bring the states into line and ensure every young person can seek guidance from a qualified practitioner in a familiar setting. We'd also need to make sure they get the support they need to do their vital work, considering that handling the career development needs of an entire school is a huge job for just one person.
Career education and guidance is essential for individuals and the productivity of the nation. Let's see Australia raise the bar and align with international peers. Only then will we be able to address many of the issues in the Treasury's Employment White Paper.
I love this ! I think there needs to be more levels in EQ though and independent schools and private schools need to remunerate Practitioners fairly and equally, Depending on qualifications. This is not an admin role in schools and it should be classified as a professional role. Maybe oneday schools and education will realise this !
An excellent iniative! So Important and the flow on affect would be enormous! Higher retention rates in tertiary, lower unemployment - it’s crucial we get professional qualified practitioners in all High Schools in Australia paid at the rate required
Megan D'Alessandro interesting !!
What a marvellous news! This is such an important initiative. Having skilled career practitioners in every secondary school is crucial to ensuring students have the guidance and support they need to navigate their future. Bravo!
Essential move for both EQ and Independents to value Post Grad qualified Career Practitioners to navigate the rapid changes occurring, with much experience and many learned tools in our kitbag and the passion to live it. I would agree with the idea that many schools feel that hiring for this crucial position can often be done as a sideline to teaching, or at Admin Officer rates where we are not paid as professionals,
Amazing 🎉 to have more practitioners involved and helping our young people. Now we just need the time to do it. The roles should be solely dedicated to this function as it is such a huge area to navigate and endless opportunities are available. When the role is mixed with a teaching load it makes it difficult to commit the time and energy to ensuring that you are providing the students and families with 100%. Big advocate and big supporter. Thanks CICA and others for continuing to strive ahead and change the landscape.
