One little tip for junior developers and engineers looking to find their first job in the space: Personally if I don't see any well-put-together project made during nights and weekends that isn't a copy-paste of a YouTube video, it raises a red flag. Put in the effort to create something unique and show your passion. This will make you stand out and demonstrate your ability to think independently.

𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 !== 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 Software Engineer === Problem Solver Don't attack problems with code. Try first to understand them from a business perspective and then a technical perspective. When you do this, make a plan for how to solve it. Try to solve without coding. The best code is not code. If you must code, then do it. Remember, 𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁.

I think every engineer should focus on how to resolve the problem, not just on how to code.
Junior Engineer: When they work on code, they improve it. Senior Engineer: They identify issues that slow down the team and work to fix them. Becoming a senior engineer means thinking about what's best for the entire team and how to increase velocity.

I help junior software engineers learn how to design systems end to end in the first year of their career
A tip for aspiring senior full-stack engineers: Code as if someone six months from now will read it Because that's exactly what's going to happen. A surefire way to gain the respect of your fellow engineers is for another engineer to read and modify the code you wrote and say, that was easy! ~~~ Agree or disagree! I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Everyone is replaceable. While this is true (the Earth won't stop rotating around it's axis if you leave) I'm wondering what the costs in the case of software engineers are. Most developer jobs require about one whole year or more for someone new to accommodate and get familiar with the code, tools, industry, team etc. After investing so much time in someone why letting him / her go so easily? What about someone who has 5+ or 10+ years in the company? Instead of giving him / her the well-deserved raise he / she asked for, what they often face are false promises, ignorance, neglect. After they quit, the search begins for Senior / Expert / Ninja / Swiss knife engineers with 150 years of experience. Capitalism? Ego? Stupidity?
