I think a lot about hiring. There is a temptation when spinning things up, to hire when you start getting busy. My experience has been that hiring should be more of a financial decision than a quantity of work decision. If you hire too soon before adequate revenue, you put the company at risk. I would rather reduce scope. Of course, there is a breaking point and you need folks. But in general, my sense of it is that the breaking point is further away than you think. I have one client who is pretty busy and instead of hiring, they are going to pay the founding team more. Of course, the specifics will be contingent on your business needs, but hire with care. Oh, and know that the first hires really help set the culture of the company. Hire folks you think will be around for a while and who set a good example to others.
