It was great to be able to support the Love Business EXPO last week. The University of Nottingham team spoke to plenty of great contacts and I’m looking forward to working on follow-up conversations this week. One message that came through clearly was how keen local businesses were to recruit talented people into their companies. Whether that is an apprentice, an intern, a placement student, a graduate, a knowledge exchange associate or an experienced hire every conversation I had last week touched on the importance of being around good people. Sometimes through, getting the right person isn’t easy – and that’s not simply down to lack of applicants, it could be down to uncertainty about what it is you want, where to advertise, what salary level to pitch the role at, what to put in a job description and all that before how to actually identify the person you need.
