Breaking Through the Tech Talent Barrier in 2024! Navigating the crowded lanes of tech job hunting can be a daunting challenge. The key, my fellow career climbers, is differentiation. With the right strategies, you can elevate your profile and résumé above the digital noise. Here's how: Market Your Skills- It's not just about what you've done; it's about how that translates into value. Find that sweet spot where your capabilities intersect with innovation. Does your experience with AI set you apart? Are you a wizard with cybersecurity? Make these skills shine in the context of problem-solving and progression. Accomplishments, Not Duties - Shift focus from daily tasks to achievements. Did you increase efficiency? Did you manage a team that delivered a revolutionary project? Quantify your successes. Precision matters. 'Enhanced performance by 30%' is far more impactful than 'was responsible for performance improvements'. Design Matters - A well-designed and well structured CV can be a game-changer. Clear headings, bullet points and adequate white space can transform a document from a text blockade to an engaging narrative. Remember, professional doesn't have to mean boring. A touch of subtle colour or a clean, modern layout can make your CV memorable. Tech Fluency Familiarise yourself with the latest tech trends and tools relevant to your field. Whether it's machine learning, blockchain, or cloud computing - staying ahead of the curve shows initiative and passion for your craft. Personal Branding - LinkedIn is your digital handshake. Ensure your profile mirrors your CV's narrative. Regularly engage with your network, share your insights on tech trends, and participate in relevant discussions. A strong online presence solidifies your reputation as a thought leader. Networking - Never underestimate the power of connections. Reach out to peers, mentors, and industry professionals. The tech community is surprisingly receptive; a shared coffee or a brief exchange at a conference could lead to your next big opportunity. Continuous Learning - Display a commitment to your personal and professional development. Add certifications, courses and workshops to your résumé that are relevant and show a commitment to staying ahead in your field. Remember, it's a combination of visibility, consistent personal branding and concrete evidence of your achievements that will set you apart. Your CV is your personal marketing brochure; make sure it sells an irresistible narrative of why you, above all others, are the perfect fit for the role. #TechCareers #PersonalBranding #JobHunting2024

🚀 While Ireland is progressing in AI and Gen AI, the adoption of other technologies like spatial computing and body sensing lags behind. While AI is widely used and appreciated, there's a slower uptake of cloud technology in Ireland, which hinders the integration of other innovative technologies like Gen AI. 🔍 To bridge this gap and ensure your business remains competitive in this fast-paced technological landscape, it's essential to have the right talent onboard. Whether you're seeking permanent team members to drive long-term strategic initiatives or contract professionals for specific project needs, having the right expertise is crucial for success. 🤝 Don't let talent shortages or skill gaps hinder your innovation and growth. In today's rapidly evolving technology sector, it is important to take into consideration soft skills that might not be immediately evident among job applicants. While technical expertise is undoubtedly crucial, the ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with others, and demonstrate empathy and emotional intelligence are equally vital in this digital age. Employers are increasingly seeking individuals who possess a well-rounded skill set that goes beyond technical proficiency, and it is those with soft skills that can often be so important in a competitive job market. The importance of soft skills in the technology sector cannot be overstated. With the rise of remote work and virtual teams, effective communication and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships are an essential requirement. Moreover, as technology continues to transform the way we work and interact, the need for individuals who can adapt to change, think critically, and problem-solve creatively has become increasingly evident. Job applicants who can demonstrate their proficiency in these areas are more likely to stand out. I urge job seekers to recognise and value the significance of soft skills by honing their abilities to communicate, collaborate, and adapt. individuals can really increase their employability and stand out in a crowded job market. Ultimately, it is those who possess a strong combination of technical expertise and soft skills who are best positioned for success in the dynamic and ever-evolving technology industry. #SoftSkills #TechnologySector #Employability 🌐

Staying motivated in your job search! Finding a new role can be challenging, especially in the competitive tech industry. But resilience is key because eventually the tide will turn. Here are a few things to consider to keep your spirits high and ensure you're at the top of the hiring list. First, utilize this time for professional growth. Dive into learning new skills or polishing existing ones. Online courses and certifications can enhance your profile, showing you're proactive and committed. Also, engage in projects, even as a volunteer. This practical experience is valuable and might just catch an employer's eye. Networking is another crucial element. Connect with industry professionals on platforms like LinkedIn and attend virtual or in-person events. Sometimes, opportunities come from where you least expect them. Have genuine conversations and share your passion for the field; this demonstrates your enthusiasm to potential employers. Staying engaged with your network. Sometimes it's not what you know but who you know can be very advantageous. Reach out to ex colleagues, and co-workers that are at companies and organisations that you admire. There are always discussions happening internally about project, opportunities and roles that might be ideal for you. Having a recommendation from a old colleague that has seen how you work and what you do can go really far and differentiate your application from many others. Remember to tailor your applications in relation to the role you're applying for. It doesn't have to be a complete overhaul of the CV, but a customized CV and cover letter can set you apart. Demonstrate how your unique skill set aligns with the company's needs. Precision here often trumps volume. Make sure that you read and fully understand the role you're applying for and tweak the CV/application to fit the what the employer is requesting. Lastly, it's okay to take a breather. Job searching is a marathon, not a sprint. Rest and self-care are essential, so balance your efforts with activities that renew your energy. Stay persistent, and good luck! #JobSearch #TechCareers #Motivation

Fractional CTO | Leading Companies through Digital Transformation with Tech Expertise & Strategic Leadership.
My degree is in Liberal Arts, yet I’ve enjoyed a fulfilling career in the tech industry over the last 15 years. You’re not defined by your education. Or the last job you had. The job market is evolving rapidly, with access to free online information enabling individuals to re-educate themselves at any age. It no longer matters if you haven’t got it all figured out! It's becoming increasingly acceptable to not have a clear career path, or to change your career path whenever you please. As the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2023 highlights, the impact of technology on jobs is expected to be a net positive over the next five years, with big data analytics, climate change and environmental management technologies, and encryption and cybersecurity driving job growth. The report also forecasts growth in digitally-enabled roles, such as E-Commerce Specialists and Digital Transformation Specialists, while administrative and traditional security roles are expected to decline. This emphasizes the need for individuals to explore diverse opportunities and take risks. The report also underlines the importance of labor market information (LMI) in helping individuals identify job opportunities and the skills required for them. As the job market continues to change, being open to new experiences and continuously learning, adapting and relating to others will be key to success.

For me, when adopting a business mindset rather than that of an employee, you'll be motivated to: 1. Excel in your company tasks, striving for excellence in your work. 2.Comprehend every intricate detail you encounter. 3.Stay current with emerging technologies and their capabilities. 4.Continuously anticipate the next move and future opportunities. What points can you add? #business #career #developer

Did you know that many Americans are getting worse with technology? Data from the OECD suggests that many Americans are losing key technical proficiencies and becoming more reticent with the use of daily softwares and apps. It’s a phenomen some people call “app fatigue”. If you’re a leader in todays world, you have to ask yourself whether you’re using the right technology for your team, whether you’re team knows how to use your technology well and what training your team needs to be successful. Doing this on your own can be daunting. Hiring a consultant with the correct technology background can help your project move further faster. If you’re scrambling to make the right technology investments and feeling lost, you can send me a dm to start a conversation about how to chart a party forward!
