Since starting in recruitment, I have always been reminded that I'm a 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭. But what does that mean? I recently had a call with a new client who came to us 𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐑 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐇𝐑 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫. After understanding the 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 and what the candidate will have to do in the role, I 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 them that they would be better with a HR Coordinator. 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐝 4 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 4 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬. The feedback from the client was that e𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞. This to me highlights the benefit of being a consultant and also being a specialist in the HR space. If we 𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐬 they are facing we may haven't have found the right candidate for this role.
