Calling on all Social Workers, Case Managers, Nurses, Counselors, Long Term Care Administrators who work with the elderly population. We are inviting you to our FREE CEU in August. Date: Thursday, 8/29/24 Time: 5:45 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. ET Location: LIVE STREAM Cost: FREE Registration Credits: 2 CE credits The overview of the event: As we enter a new chapter in history, our communities are recovering from trauma, grief, and the ripples of a health system that was upended from a global pandemic. As many reflect on the lessons learned, they are reassessing what “aging”, well-being and purposefulness means to them. To this end, it is imperative that helping professionals share evidence-based practices and innovative strategies to improve the health and wellbeing of our aging communities. A key aspect of this includes embracing the concept of purpose in aging so we can better support individuals as they navigate life’s later stages with meaning, fulfillment and dignity. This training includes a pre-recorded segment of a firsthand account of how one senior used music as his purpose and how it changed the lives of other seniors around him. From there, Shanice Rice, MSW, LCSW, will explore how using strategies and resources to help seniors tap into their sense of purposefulness can help improve lives and outcomes for the clients we serve. You will leave this training inspired and equipped with tools to help your clients explore purposefulness in their lives as well. Register here for the event: https://loom.ly/EjQ787w

The Australian College of Nursing welcomes ACT Labor's election commitment to expand mental health services, including the introduction of advanced practice mental health nurses and mental health nurse practitioners in Walk-in Centres. Investing in nurse-led models of care will ensure more Canberrans—especially young people—receive essential mental health support when and where it is needed. Nurses are uniquely positioned to provide holistic, timely care. That’s why ACN champions nurse-led models that fully harness their expertise to improve healthcare outcomes. As outlined in our White Paper, A New Horizon for Health Service: Optimising Advanced Practice Nursing, advanced practice nursing is a proven solution to reducing inequities and filling critical gaps in care. https://lnkd.in/gc6j9Myw

Deciding on an in-home care provider can be a daunting step for many families. This article has many important things to consider when thinking about which home care service is right for your loved one. Here at Nurse Next Door, we pride ourselves on handling things every step of the way. It starts with a personalized and detailed assessment of your Seniors' needs, but most importantly their wishes, interests and desires, called a Caring Consult. During the Caring Consult, we assess all facets of how we can support your loved one's independence, but more importantly, how we can support them in continuing to do the things they enjoy most. #NurseNextDoorhomecare #handledeverystepoftheway #HappierAging #Seniorsthriveathome #findtherighthomecarecompany #NurseNextDoorPinellas https://lnkd.in/ejYjAhk6

Mental Health Nurse | Dedicated to Mental Health Advocacy | Providing Support and Solutions for Well-being
🌟Finding Your Passion in Nursing: My Journey🌟 When I started my nursing studies, like many of us, I was unsure of which path to take. Nursing is such a vast field, with so many areas to explore, that it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But here's the thing: it's okay to start out feeling confused. During my second year, I found myself drawn to community health nursing. There was something about being out in the community, making a tangible difference in people's lives, that sparked a passion in me. I knew I had found something special. But the journey didn’t stop there. As I continued my studies, I discovered the world of mental health nursing. This field didn’t just captivate me; it led me on a journey of self-discovery. I realized that mental health is not just about treating others, but also about understanding yourself, your own strengths, and your own challenges. It was in this space that I truly found my calling. So, if you're still trying to figure out your own path, take heart. It’s normal to start out uncertain. But if you stay open and pay attention to what excites you, you’ll find your area of interest. And when you do, it will all be worth it. 💙 #NursingJourney #FindYourPassion #MentalHealthNursing #CommunityHealth

Tactical Healthcare Expert | Bridging the Gap between Clinical and Security | Always Innovating to Reduce Workplace Violence | Security is not the absence of threat, but presence of connection.
I called the Washington Nurses Association and offered FREE training to their nurses. I was told that they didn't need training and I was offensive if I thought that offering that was a solution. I wanted to tell her, "when was the last time you were almost a victim of workplace violence?" Mine was last night. at work. But because I have PROPER TRAINING, I wasn't a victim, but I just hung up the phone. I don't know how much clearer I can say this. Safe staffing saves lives. But safe staffing isn't possible tomorrow. Training saves lives. It's possible tomorrow. This guy was stabbed in the face with a butter knife. They do need proper staffing. But, We CAN'T GET PROPER STAFFING right now, so what are we supposed to do? EVEN if we get federal legislation, we still don't have enough nurses employed. You are PSYCHO if you think that they will just stop admitting patients. Had this guy had proper training, he most likely would not have been stabbed with a butter knife. GET YOUR NURSES TRAINED. PROPERLY. NOW...while everyone does their best to fix the staffing issues. Stop avoiding fixing this issue. Unless, the goal is to just avoid it. Make us walk around in fear so we know that they ultimately hold the power and nothing we do, not even getting murdered is enough to create change. Everyday that passes I feel like I am in some warped episode of the hunger games. Nope, just life as a Registered Nurse. #ivolunteerastribute #mockingjay
In the latest issue of Washington Nurse, we asked Brad Rathke, registered nurse at Virginia Mason, a few questions about himself and his experience with workplace violence.
