Can we talk about what not making enough can cost you? In my latest interview episode, I discuss with Felicia, also known as "the bad therapist," how we are taught to settle for low salaries in our professions. This starts with our training, we're constantly told, "well you're not in that field for the money" And that is true. Any therapist worth their salt is not in it for the money. They are there to help, to guide, and for their clients. The problem is your needs get lost. With the responsibilities of both motherhood and clinical work, I constantly felt the need to care for something or someone. And resented it all. As I talked about in this video, realizing I made nearly what I made on postdoc, in 2020, when my role as a therapist "cost" me peace of mind. It cost my kids and partner having a stressed out and resentful wife and mother. And the result was the exchange was not nearly enough to make sense for me. I had to do things differently. It starts with most of my advice to therapists with simple math. What must you make, and how do we get that money for you? What can you do to make money that won't have those costs. Simple, yet, hard to make the next steps. Check out the full episode and grab my free money guide!
