A wise man asked me this question early in my career: “Do you want to be the one who changes many, or let many change you?” The traditional automotive industry is known to be one of the most resistant to change, with conservative behaviors and a business framework designed to perpetuate the cycle of new cars, new parts, and “another flashy target.” Despite the majority of purchasing power being in the hands of women, it is still run and controlled primarily by “the guys.” Today marks a historical moment for the industry. Fearless, forward-looking leaders are stepping up to transform this narrative. Pioneers like Paul Prochilo, the CEO of Simplicity Car Care, and Bill Brower, MBA Solera, Inc. and Helle Bank Jørgensen, GCB.D, CCB.D and NACD.DC Competent Boards are taking bold actions to redefine the future of automotive sustainability. With the launch of the Industry FIRST Sustainability Summit in North America, and the Formation of the #CanadianClaimsEconomySustainabilityCouncil, the most influential leaders in this industry are called to lead the charge with urgent, concerted efforts to embrace greener, more sustainable practices for the entire transportation ecosystem. I could not be prouder of this significant momentum for all of us. This is the beginning of many great milestones we will need to build to pave the way to a greener and healthier world. This move will not be easy, will require vision, courage, and unwavering conviction and relentless dedication. But today, we have taken the first crucial step. With more great minds strong hands clear voices together , we will overcome the challenges ahead and drive the transformation this industry so desperately needs. We constantly get people calling us hopeless romantics and hypocrites Because we're not doing it all. We're not 100% sustainable 100% of the time.     Yet we keep going. In the face of the comments and ridicules We keep going. And that's what matters. We can't be 100% sustainable all the time Society isn't set up that way The infrastructure doesn't make it possible But this is not an attempt to blame it all on the system Let that be clear Because there are people working very hard to change the system Business professionals, Law officials, Speakers, Scientists, Psychologists, Artists, Activists, Enthusiasts, Athletes, I acknowledge you And I applaud your efforts.
