Last week Centrica colleague networks co-chairs gathered in Windsor for their DE&I conference to share the network's 2023 achievements, and 2024 strategies and collaborate. I was honoured to enable the collaboration with our Lead GMB, UNISON and UNITE D&I Reps harnessing the power of networking. During the day we discussed add Equity within our Lead D&I Reps role titles, with relevance to fair treatment for all people, so that the norms, practices, and policies in place ensure identity is not predictive of opportunities or workplace outcomes. Exploring how equity differs from equality in a subtle but important way. While equality assumes that all people should be treated the same, equity takes into consideration a person’s unique circumstances, adjusting treatment accordingly so that the end result is equal. What an inspirational day with some of our most passionate colleagues, making investments to deliver an enduring impact. #collaborating

How to start a conversation about equity, diversity, and inclusion at work. ✨ It is so important to find ways to have these conversations and create spaces for employees to discuss: ➡️ the impact of bias and how we can take action on it in our organisations ➡️ how access to opportunity, and life experiences, differs depending on your background ➡️ why acknowledging this, and then working together, can contribute to a more inclusive organisation (and society!) The Let's play equal board game is a collaboration between a group of B Corps to do just that, in an engaging way that brings colleagues into small group discussions. 🎉 Celebrating National Day for Staff Networks! 🎉 At Principality Building Society, our staff networks are more than just groups of people – they're vibrant communities that make our workplace a better, more inclusive environment. I often read in guides and books that this is the remit of a staff network - but personally, I disagree. Here at Principality, our networks are supported by the leaders of our organization, which means that they have an impact beyond scale and input into delivering our strategy. We are empowered to lead on initiatives and feed into a number of things across our organization. Some examples of this would be the delivery of our carbon awareness training to the whole organization, written and delivered by our very own Planet-Friendly Network. The diversity of thought that goes into policies and procedures makes Principality a leader in areas like our family-friendly policy, flexible working, and Carers leave. Our sponsorship of Pride Cymru, which we are immensely proud of, is driven by our inclusion manager, brand team, and Pride Network. And our annual Network Open Day is an opportunity for the whole company to learn more, have some time away from the desk, and come meet some pretty awesome people! As someone who helps shape our network strategy, I'm continually inspired by the dedication of my colleagues. They not only excel in their day-to-day roles but also commit themselves to the success of their networks, embodying the true spirit of collaboration and community. I couldn't be prouder of the work we do, and I encourage everyone to recognize the power of their networks.
