𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 Interest rates and their impact on our finances 📉📈 Interest rates are the heartbeat of our financial system, but did you know how crucial they are when it comes to bonds? 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐬: Set by central banks, interest rates determine how much it costs to borrow money and the returns on savings. Higher rates mean saving is more rewarding, but borrowing is pricier. 🏦 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐬 & 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬: Bonds have an inverse relationship with interest rates. When rates go up, the price of existing bonds typically goes down since new bonds come out with more attractive, higher yields. 💼 Whether you're saving for retirement or planning your next big purchase, keeping an eye on interest rates is key. 🔍 💪𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗨𝘀: https://lnkd.in/gpc_Xpsi #FinancialFitnessFriday #InterestRates #BondBasics

Freshman at Texas Tech University(2-2.5 Year Graduation Plan) | Personal Financial Planning | CFP and Enrolled Agent (EA) Candidate
Below is some additional commentary I would like to add to the great insight about cash Cody Garrett, CFP® made: Another thing I would like to add is that people need understand that there are changing expected returns of cash (i.e., that this rate won’t last forever), along with the fact that as cash returns are higher now, theoretically and empirically, this means that expected returns on stocks must be higher. This is because there is a risk premium you expect to earn when investing in the stock market to compensate you for the risk, which cash does not have since there is no risk. This in simple terms means as the fed hikes(increases cash yields) and lowers interest rates(lowers cash yields) it impacts the cash yields you gain, and expected stock returns. In the end though, all this means is just look at your financial objectives and see what is the most appropriate investments to fund those objectives, not just blindly say cash. If you want to learn more I highly recommend watching the video as previously stated.

Are you or the clients you serve holding too much cash? These higher short-term interest rates are making many investors (and advisors) speculative and nearsighted, forgetting that retirement portfolios are designed to support living expenses - possibly decades ahead! Give every dollar a job and a use-by date BEFORE deciding which investments to choose (including cash). And don't let the "product" lead the plan.
