However, rather than having PGA TOUR Entertainment exclusively produce the event, the PGA Tour has partnered with Pro Shop Studios on its live production. As a reminder, Pro Shop Studios is a new golf media company created by former Puck CEO Joe Purzycki and Chad Mumm, the executive producer of “Full Swing” on Netflix. Pro Shop Studios recently raised $20 million from a list of investors that includes the PGA Tour, and the idea is that the company can help the PGA Tour connect with Hollywood in a more meaningful way — documentary series, scripted projects, live events, etc. — by leveraging the PGA Tour’s existing audience and assets. "Golf is in the middle of an explosion in popularity and, for many young people, some of the biggest stars have emerged on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok," says Pro Shop Studios President Mumm. "The combination of these creators, who have millions of loyal fans, and the PGA TOUR’s unparalleled competitive atmosphere, production value, and massive reach promises to deliver a landmark golf event unlike any other."
