I know this speech isn't about qualitative research, but it's about human beings and how human beings can thrive. As a voice of the consumer expert, my goal is to make each consumer feel comfortable to thrive in an interview. This ability to thrive in an interview allows them to share more and thus uncover more insights. Humor is one way I do this. Of course humor is applied tastefully, but it's important to work it in to get to the heart of the consumer.

I coached one of my favorite long-time clients this week, and a focus of our conversation was authentic communications. When we tap into our natural gifts that make us unique and share those in service to others- in this case humor - we can more easily gain confidence and speak from our highest selves. When we try and be someone else and speak in a way that we *think* we should be, we get tight and can't communicate and perform our best. What's that unique gift you aspire to share in your communications? Humor, relatability, intelligence, agency, listening, empathy?

5moIt’s thunderstorms here this morning while I journal and looking like rain tomorrow. Reminded me of years ago being a mom of young children how the weather not cooperating would have bothered me. I didn’t know how to slow down and enjoy the little moments. I’m so grateful I finally figured it out. 💛
