Here's a breakdown of my most recent failure at work: I was asked to look into how to make some specific AutoCAD drawing sets update parametrically. It was a total failure… as it turns out, despite lots of parametric features, AutoCAD is still a 2D drawing software, and parametrically constraining 3D parts just doesn’t work. I concluded this after many hours of research, trying different ideas, and experimentation. Here’s the main takeaway: As an engineer, I hate to admit defeat. For some reason, I think I can figure anything out. But occasionally, you have to throw in the towel, and that’s OK.
