Dr. Vidyadhara S | Chairman & Head of Spine Surgery | Manipal Hospitals | Minimally Invasive & Robotic Spine Surgery Specialist @ Manipal Hospitals, Bangalore, India
"Robotic assisted spine surgery has been a game-changer, especially in cervical spine procedures. Our experience at Manipal Institute of Robotic Spine Surgery @ Manipal Hospital, OLd Airport Road, Bangalore with our indigenous workflow has yielded impressive accuracy rates of 98.3%. However, to truly maximize the potential of robotic technology, we need more collaboration between implant manufacturers and surgical robotics companies. Currently, we face limitations in using robotic arms for the entire procedure due to compatibility issues with existing implants. To address this, we urge companies like Medtronic to develop implants and instruments specifically designed for robotic-assisted cervical spine surgery. This would revolutionize the field, allowing for even greater precision and efficiency in procedures like deformity correction. Beginning of another chapter, stay tuned to how it turns out!
In light of Rayner's recent acquisition of This AG I previously met with Benjamin Graf at The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) to discuss their Sophi phacoemulsification machines. This acquisition will enhance Rayner’s comprehensive range of high-quality products for cataract surgery, facilitating a full offering that encompasses IOLs, OVDs, eye drops, digital tools and of course now phaco equipment. As the newcomer to the Rayner product portfolio, Sophi comes highly regarded by medical professionals and is commended for its ease of use. Tim Clover, Rayner CEO, said: “The phaco machine plays a central role in cataract surgery. At Rayner we aspire to launch the highest quality products, inspired by surgeons and driven by science. Sophi shares this vision, and their machines are truly differentiated with breakthrough technology combined with stunning design which makes them such a good fit for Rayner. I’m excited about their product range today, as well as what we will be planning together for tomorrow.”

Built on the frugal engineering approach, Rx was developed to offer an innovative solution in cataract surgery. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 ? In essence, Frugality means using best available resources to meet needs in a constrained environment. Driven by this philosophy, the Helix Surgical (Ilasis Laser) product team designed Rx, focusing solely on a critical step of cataract surgery: the capsulotomy (opening within the lens capsule). 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀: - 𝘜𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘍𝘦𝘮𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 (On par with most recent FLACS) - 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘦𝘮𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘳 𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘙𝘹 𝘪𝘴 : - an hand held instrument, - on wheels and battery powered, - with simplified set up, 4 s. procedure, - only one parameter to set, - without suction. As a result, Rx can propose Femto Laser technology to more clinics, more surgeons, more patients, meeting the constraints of existing conventional patient flows. Orthopaedic Surgeon @ Rothman Orthopaedic Institute | Sports Injury Commentator | Innovator | Entrepreneur | Philanthropist
🔬 Revolutionizing Orthopaedics with Augmented Reality! 🏥💪 #AR is can rewrite the rules for orthopaedic surgery, transforming the operating room! Surgeons can visualize complex anatomy, plan surgeries accurately, and improve patient outcomes. This technology eliminates the need for expensive robots, empowering surgeons with precision and reducing costs. AR-guided procedures hope to optimize implant placements, lower revision rates, and enhance safety. I can feel the potential when using it in the OR. Hoping to bring some of the ideas to reality.... #innovate
