Lead Quality Specialist @ Hermeus | Quality Management | ISO 9001 : AS9100D Internal Auditor | SpaceX Alum | Relativity Space Alum
In my 15 years in aerospace, I often hear "Ugh, I hate Quality..." It's nice to have self-deprecation… and a little humor. Self motivation in the mirror talks as well are always healthy, but… Communication is key to success. Don't let "Red Tape" hinder your goals. Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently and approve dispositions promptly. To QA engineers and inspectors: work closely with your team to address recurring issues before product delivery. Although mistakes may occur, aim for an open and proactive Quality Management System. Let's always strive for innovation in quality. . . . #QualityManagement #AerospaceIndustry #Teamwork

In my role as a quality engineer, when engaging with staff and team members alike, I often come across suggestions for improvements, which is great. But when I challenge them for more detail and ask, “What problem will that fix?” or “How big of a problem is it causing you?” the response is often, “It would just be better.” But how, and why? This is where people often confuse improvements with enhancements. 🚀 Understanding the Difference: Improvements vs. Enhancements 🚀 Improvements: These are changes made to solve an existing problem. They address inefficiencies, defects, or anything negatively affecting the process. Improvements are measurable, and their impact can be seen through reduced costs, saved time, or increased quality. They are necessary for resolving current issues. Enhancements: These are changes made to make something better or more modern, “Luxuries”, even though it currently works well without significant issues. Enhancements aim to upgrade or streamline a process but don’t necessarily solve an existing problem. Their benefits are often less tangible compared to improvements. 🔍 Knowing the difference helps us focus our efforts where they matter most.
