Thank you Kevin Chi, CFRE for sharing your story and what an honour to be recognized. 🙏❤️🙏 Leadership and mentorship are two pivotal roles that deeply resonate with my understanding of personal and professional development. To me, leadership embodies the ability to guide and inspire others towards a shared goal. It’s not merely about holding a position of authority; rather, it's the art of motivating people to achieve their best, creating an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. Effective leaders are visionaries who foster trust and collaboration, and who are adept at navigating challenges while maintaining a clear focus on their vision. Mentorship complements leadership by providing a more personal, one-on-one relationship aimed at nurturing the growth and development of someone else. A mentor is both a guide and a sounding board, dedicated to helping mentees explore their potential and overcome obstacles. This relationship is built on trust, respect, and mutual commitment. As a mentor, the role involves listening, providing feedback, and sharing experiences and knowledge that can help mentees develop their own paths to success. Together, leadership and mentorship encapsulate a powerful dynamic. While leadership focuses on directing and energizing a group, mentorship zeroes in on the individual’s journey. Both roles have the profound ability to impact lives and shape futures. In essence, they reflect a commitment to uplifting others and exemplify the selfless aspect of human interaction where the ultimate reward is seeing others succeed.

Non-profit fundraising centred in health equity

I'm honoured to share my story of how I became a professional #fundraiser with Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Global) and leverage the privilege of this platform to also celebrate my fellow colleagues: My #fundraising career started with Carleen Pauliuk who remains my greatest #mentor and continues to champion my work passionately, a real powerhouse and outstanding leader in the industry. Shout out to Sofia Janmohamed MBA, CFRE who first inspired me to join AFP Greater Vancouver Chapter (Association of Fundraising Professionals) and obtain my CFRE, who continues to inspire with her leadership and pursuit of continuous growth and learning. And to two amazing community leaders, Jennifer Li Dotson, MSc 李麗玲 and Teresa C. for leading the Asian American Pacific Islander Affinity Group with AFP Global. They've cultivated an incredibly welcoming space at our affinity group meetings and so thrilled to celebrate my friends for #AAPIHeritageMonth! The article is available now, and will be shared in AFP Daily on May 2nd 🎉 https://lnkd.in/gB_8mCn6
