We are excited to unveil Quisimangia, the innovative new company canteen for Mutti—a symbol of Italian excellence in tomato-based products—located in Parma. Merging an innovative design with principles of circularity, this project «illustrates our quest to merge the natural with the artificial» says Carlo Ratti, founding partner of CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati: «This clod of earth rising from the ground creates a constant dialogue with nature. Instead of a ‘déjeuner sur l’herbe’ we could call it a ‘déjeuner sous l’herbe’, dining under the grass.» Quisimangia’s architecture harmonizes with its natural surroundings, featuring a green roof made from compacted site soil and a glass-enclosed dining hall at meadow level. The design mimics a clod of earth lifted from the ground, creating a striking “ha-ha” effect that seamlessly integrates the built environment with nature. «We are pleased to continue our collaboration with CRA to bring this visionary project to life. Quisimangia is much more than a dining hall; it is the finest expression of our commitment to quality and sustainability,» states Francesco Mutti, CEO of Mutti. A standout feature of Quisimangia is its unique flooring, crafted from tomato skins, a byproduct of Mutti’s production line. This approach highlights the innovative use of local materials, reinforcing the project’s commitment to circularity. The landscaping further enhances the connection between architecture and the environment, creating a welcoming space for both Mutti employees and the public. Adding to the experience, culinary excellence is ensured by Vicook, the catering arm of Chicco and Bobo Cerea—renowned for their Michelin-starred Da Vittorio restaurants in Bergamo, St. Moritz, and Shanghai. After the widely awarded ”The Greenary”, this new chapter embodies Mutti’s and CRA’s shared dedication to quality and innovation. We invite you to discover Quisimangia and explore other upcoming projects by CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati. 🌿✨The Marvel of Hevea/Rubberwood: Eco-Friendly Elegance🌿✨ Ever heard of a tree that keeps on giving? Meet the #Hevea_brasiliensis, the source of the versatile and eco-chic rubberwood. This tropical #hardwood, with its light, warm tones, is not only a favorite among furniture makers and interior designers but also an unsung hero in the realm of sustainability. Let’s dive into the wonderful world of hevea rubberwood and discover why it’s the environmentally friendly choice you never knew you needed! #The_Journey_from_Latex_to_Lumber Hevea brasiliensis, a remarkable species primarily grown in rubber plantations. For many years, these trees are tapped for their latex, which becomes the rubber products we use daily. But what happens when a rubber tree’s latex-producing days are over? Instead of being discarded, these mature trees are given a second life. Once they’ve outlived their latex-producing years, usually around 25-30 years, they are harvested for their wood. This means the tree has already served a valuable purpose before transforming into the beautiful timber we know as hevea/rubberwood. #Eco_Friendly_and_Fabulous: One of the standout features of rubberwood is its green credentials. Here’s why: #Sustainable_Harvesting: Rubberwood is sourced from trees that have already been used for latex production, minimizing waste and maximizing the utility of each tree. #Reduced_Deforestation: By utilizing plantation-grown trees, the need to cut down natural forests is significantly reduced. #Longevity_and_Durability: Hevea/Rubberwood is robust and resilient, making it an excellent choice for furniture and flooring that lasts. #Versatility_at_Its_Best: Hevea/Rubberwood’s light color and fine grain make it a versatile option for various applications. It’s easy to work with, stains well, and can be crafted into everything from elegant dining tables to stylish shelves. Plus, it’s often more affordable than other hardwoods, making it a #budget_friendly option without compromising on quality or aesthetics. #A_Win_Win_for_Style_and_Sustainability: Choosing rubberwood means you’re not only investing in a piece of furniture but also in the planet. It’s a testament to how we can creatively and responsibly use our resources, turning what could be waste into something wonderful and enduring. It’s the perfect blend of style, sustainability, and story an eco-friendly marvel to extend the tree's life.
