Visual tracking is crucial for tennis players as it helps them anticipate the trajectory of the ball and adjust their positioning and strokes accordingly. Elite players have honed their ability to track the ball with precision, allowing them to react faster and make split-second decisions on how to return the ball effectively. Training exercises that focus on improving visual tracking can greatly enhance a player's performance on the court. https://lnkd.in/gGAbzJqq https://lnkd.in/gn7cMnn8

Athlete Neuro Performance Specialist working with individuals and teams to improve Visual, Cognitive and Mental Performance Skills.
Interesting article showing the Swiss goalies training with stroboscopic glasses and small balls this week in preparation for tonights game. There's a slight factual error in the report - the glasses aren't working to improve reflexes (reflex is an involuntary movement - goalies rely on REACTIONS), but apart from that it's pretty spot on. Visual perception training is the next frontier for elite performance - more goalies than you think are now training this way. https://lnkd.in/ebY4kGZ3

https://lnkd.in/eADmjD8n While browsing another topic my search engine brought up a vlog on exercises for the more mature tennis player. While I agreed with him that most online providers don't cover the needs of this group, his recommended exercises failed the functional litmus test on two counts 1. They were in one plane only, forward/back, instead of all three planes. 2. They ignored the fact that the whole body operates as a chain reaction in human movement in upright function. Exercising one link in the chain in one plane of motion will not prepare an athlete in their prime, let alone a maturing recreational player, to play better for longer. See my vlog on preparing to play/serve based on my more than 12 year study with the Gray Institute and in particular their 3DMAPS https://lnkd.in/eWU5XwGV

⚾ Unleash Your Inner Power Pitcher! 🔥 New research shows that while bilateral jumps improve overall power, unilateral training may be the secret weapon to boosting your fastball velocity! ⚾️ ✔️ Jump higher with both legs? Absolutely! But single-leg strength is where pitchers truly dominate. 💪 ✔️ Want a faster fastball? Focus on those single-leg exercises! Unilateral training leads to greater stride leg power, which translates to serious heat on the mound. 🚀 ✔️ Don't neglect those drive legs! Adding more plyometric reps for your drive leg can help balance out your strength and prevent injuries. 🤕 #baseball #pitching #training #strengthandconditioning #unilateraltraining #plyometrics #performance #sportscience #fastball

Director/Owner Think Outside The Diamond, LLC | Motor Control Driven Baseball Development. Create a powerful movement system IG: @totdcoach | LUKE 1:37
Factoring his movement profile (ground force ) and personal motor preferences makes a huge difference. Spend time outside the field and get to know your athletes!!! His numbers are up 20% from this time last year but even more importantly his barrel awareness off the plate is tremendous. Learning to hit bad pitches is a vital attribute for long term hitting success. He has also increased his deep core and hip stability which in my opinion is a super power when it comes to athletic movement. Every hitter is unique this isn’t a cookie cutter approach. #hittingapproach #hittingconcepts #naplesfl #baseballtraining #professionalbaseball Learning to use your intra-abdominal pressure (dynamic neuromuscular stability) to pre set our rib cage to be perpendicular to our pelvis gives us more pelvic control during the acceleration phase of the swing. This also activates our proximal to distal concept for energy transfer."BJ" Bernard John Minarcin

Visual processing speed plays a vital role in tennis, as it allows players to quickly interpret visual cues such as the trajectory of the ball, the movement of their opponent, and the positioning of themselves on the court. Players with faster visual processing speed can anticipate shots more accurately, react more swiftly, and make split-second decisions during matches. Training exercises that focus on improving visual processing speed, such as reaction drills and visual tracking exercises, can help tennis players enhance their performance on the court. https://lnkd.in/gvzG_svQ
