Tips for Running a successful Tilapia hatchery:

Tilapia Tuesday! Here are a few tips to produce high quality fingerligs! 1. Maintain Biosecurity: Keep your hatchery biosecure and isolated from your grow-out production. This reduces the risk of diseases, ensuring healthier fingerlings. 2. Limited Access: Designate specific personnel for the hatchery, and restrict access to this area. This helps minimize the introduction of pathogens and maintains a controlled environment. 3. Optimal Feeding: Pay close attention to feeding regimes. Just like with humans or other species, the early stages of life are critical for optimal development. Feed according to the size, stage, and age of the fish to guarantee excellent performance and prevent deformities. 4. Water Quality: Avoid fluctuations in water quality. Tilapia fingerlings are highly susceptible to changes in their environment, which can lead to diseases or deformities. Iron - Can you overload your horse's diet? A simple but important question for the modern day horse, especially here in Australia. Why here in Australia more so than many other places in the world? Simple. Our soils are very old and haven’t received the level of precipitation (rainfall, snow, ice, etc.) that many other countries have experience, particularly those in the Northern Hemisphere and Tropics. As a result, our soils are very high in certain minerals, like iron and manganese, but are extremely deficient in others like copper, zinc and selenium. With the majority of our soils in Australia being high in iron, this mineral will naturally be present in higher-than-average concentrations in the plants, grasses, seeds and grains grown in these soils. https://lnkd.in/gHwv_hKX

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗮! Meet the 𝗝𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘆𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵 We are marine invertebrates with a bell-shaped body and long, trailing tentacles. Do you know there are over 2,000 known species of us, found in every ocean around the world? We have stinging cells called 𝗰𝗻𝗶𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘆𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗻𝗶𝗱𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘀 on our tentacles that we use to capture prey. Don't panic if stung but us, just; 🪄 Remove any tentacles stuck to your skin using tweezers or gloved hands. 🪄 Avoid touching the tentacles directly. 🪄 Rinse the affected area with saltwater (not freshwater). Freshwater can actually cause the venom to penetrate further. 🪄 Apply a paste of baking soda and seawater to the sting. This can help neutralize the venom. 🪄 You can take over-the-counter pain medication like ibuprofen or acetaminophen to relieve pain and swelling. 🪄 Seek medical attention if there are signs of a severe reaction like difficulty breathing, extreme pain, or muscle/joint spasms, as these may require antihistamines, corticosteroids, or antivenom. 🪄 Avoid urinating on the sting as this is not an effective treatment and may worsen the injury. The 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙙 𝙟𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙮𝙛𝙞𝙨𝙝 when possible and seek immediate medical care if stung by an aggressive or unknown species.
