Meet Able Mabel, a robot prototype designed in 1966 to show that robots could perform human-like tasks around the house. This was during a time of rapid technological exploration influenced by the space age. While the technology in 1966 wasn't advanced enough, it was predicted that household robots like Able Mabel would be common by the mid-70s. Although Able Mabel was intended as an entertaining demonstration of its potential applications, this short clip highlights the early ambitions to create robots that could assist with everyday tasks. #digitalmarketing #artificialintelligence #linkedinpost #LinkedIn

Recently, I spoke at an event to teach other tech councils from across the U.S. how to help companies in AI, Autonomy and Robotics related fields to navigate the defense innovation ecosystem I realized quickly that Pittsburgh has something incredibly special happening here.. and it won’t be easily replicated anytime soon. I would argue that Pittsburgh is now the nation’s center of Defense Robtics and Autonomy. Having just walked (using of our city’s beautiful trails) nearly 250 Air Force officials through Robot Row, it’s hard to understate the value of an organic cluster and the efficienies that can be gained from it. Donald Smith nailed it here: Lawrenceville didn’t emerge from some lofty economic development strategy (though RIDC’s leadership was key), it came from CMU’s investment (initially leveraging NASA Funding) in NREC and also from the great and welcoming aspects of the neighborhood. Also: let’s not forget, the Department of Defense playwd a key role in building this cluster and sustaining the cluster. The Defense Robotics Coaltion is heading to D.C. next week with nearly 20 of members to share some of our key priorities for our federal policy makers. The future is bright!
The first 'Innovation District': As Pittsburgh looks to build new tech hubs, here's a status check on Robotics Row
