Driving Global Health Equity & Access: Bridging Data, Communities, and Partnerships for Positive Impact | With a Heart in the Amazon Forest 🌳

Thrilled to share the insights from this morning’s Devex session “All In: Sustainable Approaches to Improve Maternal Health and Achieve UHC through strategic private sector collaborations” Maternal mortality, a pressing global concern, underscores the urgent need for action. Data, our potent ally, unveils disparities that often go unseen behind averages. Shockingly, even in New York, black women face a staggering 9-fold higher risk of #maternalmortality compared to non-black women. This is a stark reminder of the multifaceted challenge at hand - one that calls for a holistic, multi-sectoral approach to ensure women's safety during pregnancy and childbirth. Dr. Jarbas Barbosa, Director of PAHO, eloquently emphasized the key role of collaboration between the private and public sectors in addressing this issue. His words resonate with me: "Maternal mortality reflects access to care and the strength of our healthcare system. While COVID-19 posed setbacks, through transparent guidelines and robust frameworks, we can forge a powerful alliance between the private and public sectors to achieve genuine progress." Together, we must co-own data, actively involve communities in solution design, pledge dedicated resources, and harness the unique strengths of each sector. This is a shared responsibility that we cannot, and must not, ignore. #unga #unga78 #healthequity #MaternalHealth #PublicPrivateCollaboration #globalhealth #Transparency #Governance #impactinvesting #healthequity #UHC #healthforall #dataforgood #latinaleaders #womenchangemakers Baraka Impact Finance Movement Health Women in Global Health Bay Area Global Health Alliance #devex James Bair
