🌈 Celebrating Nonbinary Identity in the Workplace 🌈 As we strive for inclusivity, it's crucial to acknowledge the experiences of nonbinary individuals in the workplace. As a nonbinary person, I've faced challenges navigating gender norms, but also found strength in authenticity. In many workplaces, understanding of gender identity is limited. Embracing nonbinary identities enriches our culture and fosters belonging. Education is key—training programs can promote inclusive language and respect for pronouns. We must advocate for inclusive policies, like gender-neutral facilities and updated documentation. As allies, we can amplify nonbinary voices and push for their full inclusion. Let's break down barriers and build workplaces where everyone can thrive, regardless of gender identity. #NonbinaryInclusion #DiversityandInclusion 🏳️⚧️

#Diversity_and_Inclusion Diversity and Inclusion have NEVER been solely about gender diversity! Diversity is much more than gender alone. It includes diversity in Skills, Culture, Viewpoints, Physical Attributes, Socioeconomic Backgrounds, Educational Experiences, Ages, and more. True diversity is about ACCEPTANCE and allowing people to be who they are. It is about expanding your knowledge pool by being open to different perspectives and providing opportunities to marginalized groups. We must recognize that our unity lies in our Differences, appreciating and learning from one another. If you advocate for diversity and inclusion, you should embrace new challenges, environments, and ideas. Always be Receptive, Appreciative, and Accepting.

Equality and diversity demand that we expand our minds as to people's gender identity. Trans people exist - they always have and they always will. I sometimes hear "I can't use 'they' as a pronoun because it is not grammatically correct". Actually, it is correct. It is fair. It is appropriate to respect people's identity and their right to self-identify. If you went into a restaurant and found an umbrella on your chair, you would call the waiter and say "someone has left THEIR umbrella. THEY must be missing it." The waiter is not going to think you mean multiple people have left an umbrella - it is clear you mean one person. "they" and "their" are not just for the plural. Let us focus on inclusivity. Let us show respect. The world goes round and round. It doesn't stop. Change is coming - and it is long overdue.

😐People often underestimate the power of extracurricular activities at work. Any moment can be a good moment for creating new connections and strengthening relationships. Many companies promote a variety of extra activities and social engagements for their employees. These might include celebrating different cultures and diversity, discussing gender equality and inclusion, or recognizing women, the LGBTIQA+ community, First Nations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and many others. These activities not only foster important discussions but also offer great opportunities to build or strengthen connections with colleagues and customers. I advocate for many of these discussions because making these connections helps me understand others better. 🤷🏼♀️And why is that important? We all have different mental models 🧠, as we teach in our SynergyIQ Reframe Change Program. Although it’s not always easy to find people who think like us, the more we connect and understand other’s perspectives, the better our communication will be. This also helps reducing unconscious bias and, in my case, enhances the experience I can provide when delivering change. ✨Don’t underestimate the power of relationship building by taking a few hours to engage in extracurricular activities. Work is never-ending, and the connections you make today might be the shortcuts to success tomorrow.✨ Here's a short video of a fantastic workshop hosted at BHP, organized by the Olympic Dam Diversity and Inclusion Council, celebrating Latin culture through the vibrant art of Latino dance!💃🏼🕺🏼 #powerofconnection #changeexperience

At SynergyIQ, we believe that every moment is an opportunity to create connections and strengthen relationships. In her post shared below, Paula Jacques, one of our outstanding Change Consultants, beautifully emphasizes the importance of extracurricular activities in fostering a more inclusive and connected workplace. Paula's insights align perfectly with the 'Mental Models' we teach in our SynergyIQ Reframe Change Program. Understanding that we all have different mental models 🧠 is crucial. The more we connect and appreciate diverse perspectives, the better our communication becomes, leading to reduced unconscious bias and enhanced change experiences. You are invited to the first ever public Gender and Gender Expression workshop! This workshop forms the foundation of all of our educational offerings. We usually only offer workshops to singular businesses, but we recognize that this leaves out a significant portion of people who could benefit from this conversation. That's why we're trying out a public workshop, opening our doors to anyone who want to build competency around workplace inclusion for gender minorities, including small businesses, sole traders, and the general public who are hungry to learn. It is also a low-cost way for HR/DEI leads to get a taste of what we’re up to and find out if there’s value we could add elsewhere at your organisation. "I think it was the most valuable training I've done in years. It's the first opportunity I've ever had to discuss these subjects and it was in such an open and honest way to discuss it." - Anonymous Workshop Participant Follow the link for event info - and tag anyone in your network who might be interested in the comments below!
