Hiring for PR? Look for these 5 qualities. I evaluate these when hiring at Clarity Communication They’ve helped me onboard some of the best PR professionals. And bonus: they’re great to work with! 1. Are they optimists? In my experience, optimism goes a long way in PR (and life!). These professionals can turn anything into opportunities and bring in new ideas. Both are game-changers in PR. 2. Do they over-communicate? In PR, communication is key. And over-communication gives you clarity. You need folks who do it seamlessly. 3. Are they honest? As you know, am all about clear communication. And a big part of that is honesty. Managing expectations realistically is not just the right thing to do, but also more effective. 4. Are they eager? Having a strong drive is a must. Without passion for PR, they’ll soon fizzle out. The field is such. 5. Are they change-ready? I have been handling projects for years and one thing that doesn’t change is ‘change’! Hire people who can cope with sudden changes well because PR is all about that. Strategic Communications for the Next Generation: o Craft team and individual storylines that resonate with young and aspiring athletes, highlighting the achievements and challenges of our diverse group of players, coaches, and front office personnel. o Develop educational and inspiring content for our younger audience, aiming to foster a deeper connection within the LA community of the sport and its values. 2. Media Management with a Future Focus: o Identify media outlets and stories that appeal to younger demographics, focusing on how the Sparks can be a beacon for aspiring female athletes. o Use media platforms to showcase role models on our team, emphasizing their journey, dedication, and impact on the sport. 3. Game Day Media Oversight & Youth Engagement: o Implement game day strategies that also cater to younger audiences, making the sport more accessible and appealing to the next generation. o Oversee the creation of youth-focused initiatives during games and special events, enhancing the experience for young fans and their families. 4. Cross-functional Collaboration for Youth Development: o Work closely with community relations and the local business community to develop programs and partnerships that encourage youth participation in LA area sports and support the development of young athletes. o Collaborate with marketing to create campaigns that resonate with young audiences, driving interest and engagement in LA women's athletics.
