Apply layers of resin and matting, allowing time for each layer to cure. Finally, sand the surface to achieve a smooth finish, ready for the skylight installation. Having a good solid upstand is key. Let's talk about... Scratching versus preparing concrete I come across various resin flooring installations where I wonder if there are elements I would do differently. I could be very wrong but it seems like there are a lot of projects where it is considered enough to put a "good scratch" on the concrete.... generally followed by diluted primers to "deep dive". Diamond grinding a slab to reduce elevation inequalities and minimize slab undulations justifies the process. Concrete that is sealer free and only slightly dirty could possibly be prepped a different way. In cases where a grinder is a must, the only other issue will be the removal of the fine dust the process produces. Concrete pores that become packed full can be effectively de-dusted by way of a shotblaster. The video documents an already ground slab that only needs the fine dust fully removed. Concrete damaged during floor demo is often left rough. It could be related to surface delamination or removal method. Whatever the cause, the floor should be fully prepared before any underlayment or patching process begins. A grinder is a good start to reduce some of the elevation inequalities. For prepping the voids, a shotblaster does a good job to reach where the grinder can’t. The video documents an area where flooring was removed by chipping hammer. Today we are removing tile that was not correctly installed. The greatest fail in the installation was the lack of surface preparation prior to installation. This concrete floor was not profiled to create a bond. The thinset is literally coming up in pieces as indicated in the picture. Our dustless removal system creates a CSP of 2/3 by default. We will be installing the new tile and it will bond correctly because we profiled the surface to create a proper bond.

Parapet walls are vulnerable. For starters, they’re exposed on as many as 5 sides: the outside face, inside face, top face, and both ends. Hence, great care must be taken in their detailing. The air barrier on the cavity face of the backing wall continues over the top and down the inside face of the parapet, ultimately connecting with the roof’s air barrier. A rigid flashing spans across the top of the wall, rejecting moisture that wants to migrate in. The masonry coping stones may be supported by shims, and they are anchored through the ends of the stone and into the top face of the structural wall, sealing around any penetrations through the flashing. The coping stones should be sloped at least 15 degrees, and sealant, not mortar, applied in the joints. The masonry flashing at the top of the wall is connected to, yet independent from, the flashing system of the roof. Once the masonry components are in place, the roofers can come in with their deck sheathing, vapor barrier, roof insulation, cover board, roofing membrane, and roof flashing, tying their roof assembly to the masonry at the sheet metal receiver.
