There are many bills in the legislature this session aiming to address the high rate of teacher turnover Louisiana faces, but most do nothing that would actually address the issue. These bills would instead result in our children being educated by lower-quality teachers who are still unlikely to stay, with no promise of pay increases, just another one-time stipend. Stripping teacher certification requirements and other proposed bills will hurt our children, not help them.
