💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚 I'm proud to be running the 2024 TCS NYC Marathon with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - NYC chapter. NAMI-NYC provides free support, education, and advocacy to families and individuals affected by mental illness. As some of you know, my family has faced unimaginable challenges navigating mental illness, especially during the years leading up to my brother Tom's tragic passing in 2017. In many ways, it felt like the system failed us, as adequate support and resources were difficult to access. These experiences have inspired me to run my first marathon with NAMI-NYC. Their services would have been invaluable during those difficult times. Join me in this journey by donating to my fundraiser (https://lnkd.in/eQuCWAKf). Every step I take in training and every dollar raised for NAMI-NYC helps ensure that no family has to navigate mental illness alone. Let's run towards a future where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health. Together, we can create a more inclusive and accessible world for those struggling with or impacted by mental illness 💚 #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #NAMINYC #NYCMarathon 1 in 5 individuals in the United States lives with a mental illness. The other four are family, friends, colleagues, neighbors. We all deserve culturally responsive, accessible health and mental health care — and NAMI-NYC has been at the forefront of that fight for over 40 years.
