On July 2, 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) issued announcement No. 26, 2024 to add the implementation of compulsory product certification management (CCC certification requirements) for lithium-ion batteries and chargers used in electric bicycles. Before that, these products were in CQC voluntary scope only. With this announcement, designated certification bodies will begin to accept CCC certification applications for lithium-ion batteries and chargers for electric bicycles from October 15, 2024. However, starting November 1, 2025, lithium-ion batteries and chargers used in electric bicycles must obtain CCC certificate with CCC mark before they can leave the factory or sold/imported to China market or used in other business activities in China. Further news regarding the detailed certification implementation rules and guideline, accredited issuing bodies and testing laboratories will be separately published by CNCA and CQC in the future. New Guidelines for CCC Certification of Electric Bicycle Batteries A new announcement from the China National Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) outlines the designation of certification bodies for lithium-ion batteries used in electric bicycles. This decision is in accordance with regulations such as the “Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Certification and Accreditation”. The announcement also references the 2024 No. 17 Notice, which pertains to the certification process for lithium-ion batteries used in electric bicycles, chargers for electric bicycles, and combustible gas detection and alarm products. Lithium-ion batteries for electric bicycles typically require CCC certification to be approved for import and sale in China. In the field of product certifications, CCC stands for China Compulsory Certificate. Certain product categories require a CCC certificate before being exported to China. This is a mandatory certification in China, similar to the European CE system for product quality standardization, though there are key differences that must be considered. #CCCcertification #ChinaCertification #ChinaCompulsoryCertificate #ChinaProductCertification #GBstandards #GBstandardsChina #CCCchina #ChinaCCC
